We could still find good players such as Vince Wilfork, Chris Gamble, Reggie Williams, Shawn Andrews, Will Smith, Will Poole and DeAngelo Hall.
We need additional picks on the first day and trading down could get them. I don't know if any of these players will there at 21 in the event we traded with the Patriots for their first round picks and one of their second rounders. I do think we should try to trade all of our day 2 picks to get more on day 1 as well. We need to get better quality players and day 2 will probably just get us more of what we already have.

Cardshark, I like this thought because I don't buy into that "8 franchise players" in this draft nonsense.

This is the deepest first round I have ever seen. However, Wilfork is a top 5 player and I hope we sit at #3 and take him.

I think many on this board had that initial opinion that we should take Wilfork and fix the Dline...but with Green named coach and the Offensive philosophy he imploys it would be really tough not to take the best WR and build a dynamic offense. Take a servicable DT in the 2nd rd and build from there. If Macklin and Starks are our corners then the 2nd rd pick needs to be a DT. Kenny King might come along this year. Trading down to get lesser guys would be a mistake deep draft or not. We don't need more Calvin Paces we need impact guys.

I do think DT is our most critical need in this draft so I'm all for getting Wilfork. It would be nice if we could trade down and still get him. We have so many scrubs on this team that we don't have the luxury of going for the marquee type player if we can turn that pick into 2 or 3 above average players we are better off.

I am glad to see they are allowing the inmates the opportunity to exercise there minds and use the computer:D I keedee, I keedee...but if we only get depth in the lower half of the draft then we have failed. We can and I believe will get impact. We can not go lower than 11 and still get an impact guy and that would only be in a big trade IMO.

No thanks :thumbdown We tried that once remember? We ended up with two GIANT ?'s.

Keep the pick in the 3-8 range, and pick up a good tackle in the 2nd or 3rd.

I disagree that DT is our biggest need. I am all for giving W Bryant and M Bell and the rest the benefit of the doubt this year with their first time under a decent DL coach. I can't imagine anyone worse than Joe Greene. We can get a quality DL and CB in the second and third rounds. At #3, lets get a star. Coach Green has already given his list of franchise draft picks. A CB or DT weren't on it.

No one said 8 "franchise" players.

DG wants to get a difference maker. You can get 2 good players later but can you get 2 difference makers?

Gamble is a gamble I am not sold on him. Andrews has weight issues. W Smith has questions too he did not have outstanding production. It's not like you are getting sure things in the draft - the lower you go the less sure the player.

This is a deep draft. Another pick in the first round would be sweet but you have to be careful what it costs you. You need to get 1 sure thing in the first round. The 2nd pick can be a gamble pick.

The only problem is that they are both 1 gap tackles (I think)

What nonsense this is on trading out of the top ten; the Cards did that last year and got CRAP. The trade last year and first round picks were the laughing stock of the league. (almost as bad as Viking coach Tice not making a pick on time!)

Denny will make sure that we get an impact player at #3. He never has traded down his #1 pick. The Cards need impact players not more meaningless draft picks.

Using last years trade down to shoot down this years trade down is kind of silly since this draft is so damn deep in talent. The difference maker pool is about 10 players deep but you can get first round talent well into the second round.

Last week sometime I proposed a hypothetical trade down with NE for their 2 first rounders. I admitted at the time that it was probably too far to drop but I felt it was intriguing to see what the possibilities were. Here is what I hypothetically figured the Cards could pickup if they did it since they would be picking at 21, 32, 33 and 65:

#21 - Kevin Jones RB
#32 - Rashaun Woods WR
#33 - Derrick Strait CB
#65 - Lavalais or Siavii DT

A couple possibilities would be if Lee Evans (WR) was there at #21 I would be hardpressed to pass him up in which case I would revisit the RB maybe at #32.

While I still think the Cards should really stand pat at #3, the above scenario would vastly improve this team IMO.

To make it brief - Calvin Pace and Bryant Johnson.

(Brilliant!)

I don't ever want a WR that played in Wisconsin's sorry excuse for a passing game:barf:

lee Evans is a burner who catches EVERYTHING thrown at him. Don't base judgement on a player by what his team does. It doesn't always mesh right. Lee Evans is going to be a serious WR IMO.

CBus is still mad that Evans scorched Gamble for a game winning TD this season. He was "only" six, seven yards behind him.

Trade out of the top 10???????????

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would consider trading down as far as 7 or 8 thats it.

I would also target Taylor. He is my first round pick no matter what. We need to address this defense. Let DG and his genius take care of the offense.

The only way I'd trade out of the top 10 is if we got 2 first rounders and an additional 2nd. Having 4 picks in the first 60 or so would be nice but not very likely....

Let us stop this Mississippi trade talk and get an impact player at #3. I continue to be puzzled with all the trade talk. Making a trade is not a cure to any major illness. Quantity is not better than quality. Let us not blow it one more time. We have a chance to get a very good player and I will go with whoever the bosses select but will be very disappointed if they try to get cute and do some trading that falls through the floor.

I am not for taking Andrews but if we wanted a OL I would grab him in an instant. I have watched him his entire carreer at Arkansas and he is the real deal. He will and has played at around 360 and is a guy with great character. Was all SEC for sophomore and junior year and all american last year. He will be a starter and a very good one in the NFL right out of the gate. We have other needs.
