The Suns will hire Igor Kokoskov as their new head Coach.

The Suns are hiring Utah Jazz assistant Igor Kokoskov as their new head coach.

Kokoskov was an assistant with the Suns from 2008-2013 and was an early target for the team in its coaching search. A native of Serbia, he will become the first coach born and raised outside North America in NBA history

Suns Ryan McDonough and James Jones flew out to Houston and met with Kokoskov on Monday in between Games 1 and 2 and the organization came to a unanimous decision to hire Kokoskov that night.

There were no finalists for the job. Suns interviewed over 10 candidates and were blown away by Kokoskov on Monday during the face to face interview that they made decision to make the hire.

3. Understands the team culture (ie Sarver's interference) and can work with it.

As I said on the pod a while back, my favorite thing about Kokoskov is he's going to know exactly what he wants to do with each player right away. Indecision has really hurt the development of some of the younger guys.
