There is a great deal of danger with giving that type of player a long term deal. I think there is a good chance Dansby will be a monumental bust wherever he goes. If he gets his money here, I think he will be a bust here also. The reason is simple, once he gets his money, he's going to tank it. I'd rather that happen to another team.

The good news is that Karlos will play like a crazed tiger this season. We're gonna need that if we want to hoist the Lombardi thorphy this year.

Your mad because our front office decided to give a guy the franchise tag knowing he had hinted things last season about wanting to be in the free agent market when the uncapped year hit. Let him go play one year for someone else or take a nice long term contract that the Cards are trying to get for him. But you can't be mad at the player for this. You are kidding, right? Why don't you think Karlos has been re-signed yet? He himself has stated he won't re-sign and wants to cash in on FA.

The knock on Karlos has always been his heart. He had nagging injuries durring training camps and practice that would vanish just in time for him to be able to play on Sundays on a weekly basis earlier in his career.

He will go to whichever teams gives him the most lucrative contract. That is why he is playing. That is his motivation. If you think that the first thing that pops in his head when he makes an INT or has a Sack is anything other than "Yeah! My price tag just went up!", you need a reality check.

Well, there is no way in hell we are re-signing him next year anyway. His price tag is going to be something like 15 million next year because on the 3rd consecutive year of use, the franchise tag guarantees the average of the top 5 highest paid players in the league. Thats why I said Karlos is really going to be playing lights out this year and we are going to need that if we are to make another superbowl run.

AGREED, he takes plays off now. When he gets $25mil gauranteed or so he will call it a career and coast. This team just went to the SB and is offering a longterm deal with a decent bonus I would assume but this guy wants more and hurting the ability to resign or extend others

every clip I saw this year inside the cards locker room seemed to have either Whisenhunt or Dansby speaking. He seems like a vocal leader, and without really knowing what goes on at practice and on the field, chemistry-wise, I don't know how you could call out Dansby like he's being called out in this thread.

Bottom line is the team we have had this past year, when they want to play, have an absolute juggernaut of an offense, game-changing special teams, and a front 7 of the defense that can shut down the best running games out there (Atlanta, Carolina, etc.).

You don't mess with that chemistry. You don't trade away core players who make up that chemistry. Tons of teams have talent, few talented teams can really play together well like this one did. That's why you don't trade the Boldins, Dansbys, Wilsons, Warners, etc. of the team. You step up, pay them, and make another run.

Only by people who don't know anything other than what they read on a message board. Dansby never had nagging injuries that would vanish just in time to play. He had real injuries and Dansby would man up and play on Sunday and play well. The one year he had problems and got Green and ASFN in an uproar over his imaginary injuries I posted a picture of Dansby with a huge cast on his hand. Of course no one paid any attention to that and continued with the myth that Dansby was a slacker.

He also doesn't take plays off. If you have any proof I'd like to see it. I've said it before and I'll say it again, only the top LBs in the NFL have the combination of numbers Dansby has posted in his career. Interceptions, Sacks, Tackles, and forced fumbles. There are guys with more of one but Dansby will have more of one of the others.

If the Cards had $8 million for Travis Laboy for one season and $41 million for James, Hood and LaBoy to play 3,2, and 1 year they can find enough money to pay Dansby and the rest of the "Core".

Hopefully the past couple days of personnel meetings have brought the FO to that conclusion. Pay Karlos, A-Dub and Anquan (the core), augment your roster with the draft, and stop shoveling money at mediocre and/or injury-prone free agents. It's the formula that Pittsburgh and Indianapolis have used to remain playoff contenders year after year. (More Bill Polian and less Dan Synder.)

Oh, and try ignore the folks on message boards lusting after every aging free agent that gets cut.
