Only by people who don't know anything other than what they read on a message board. Dansby never had nagging injuries that would vanish just in time to play. He had real injuries and Dansby would man up and play on Sunday and play well. The one year he had problems and got Green and ASFN in an uproar over his imaginary injuries I posted a picture of Dansby with a huge cast on his hand. Of course no one paid any attention to that and continued with the myth that Dansby was a slacker.

Considering it was his so called career ending toe injury Dansby was telling people about as the injury keeping him out of camp I am not sure what a picture of a hand cast does for proving your point.

Also it was not message board rumor, it was direct scuttlebutt from team insiders including Rob Wolfley and others. It is also a tag he got in college so it wasnt some made up message board fodder that only started two years ago, it went all the way back to his college days.

Thats not to say he hasnt played well though and that I dont want to extend him, just the tag he got was well deserved and was not just made up message board gossip.

I don't know why so many people think these players play for money. They play because they love the sport and want to win. Whoever thinks someone's play deteriorates when he gets a new contract is out of their mind.

LoL, that's not the way it is in real life. I've heard numerous analysts/ sportscasters say not enough of them play for the love of it. Most are good at it, but don't love it. It's just a job to them.

I vaguely remember the pinkie incident. Word around town was that team mates were rolling their eyes at the fact the didn't/couldn't play with the pinkie injury.

Ask someone who is black...
The phrase predates the use of the word "spade" as an ethnic slur, which was not recorded in usage until 1928; however, in contemporary U.S. society, the idiom is often avoided due to potential confusion with the modern racial slur against African-Americans. Source

Whenever there's only so much room in the ship, there will be the tendency to point fingers at various players you think should remain aboard or be thrown over the edge.

The Cards have only so much cap money and too many players.

This is a fact of life in the National...Football....League.

So you move the players and money around your master chart and then make some hard decisions.

There are winners and there are losers.

Maybe some of you are not big Dansby fans and are bummed because LaBoy or Hood was released. Others may be taking dead-aim at Boldin.

My take - We're still in the middle of this story - Let's see how it all turns out before we point fingers. Some of us will trust the current coaching staff and administration to do the right thing. Others will be more skeptical (and that's OK). My inclination is to see how things play out. I can see why Rod, Michael and Wiz are doing what they're doing, but that doesn't mean it's not without some risk. (You don't just throw LaBoy and Hood overboard and hope they'll be magically replaced). Sure I'll have an eyebrow raised, but my gut tells me these guys know what they're doing. So let's just let things play themselves out before we hit Dr. Kevorkian's redial.

i'm not too worried if dansby leaves. we'd save a lot of money and without him our LB's are still decent

That was in 2006 and Dansby hasn't had any nagging injury problems since. Although he did miss 2 games in the middle of the 2007 season. Yet he still had 97 tackles, 3 INTs and 3.5 sacks that year.

The picture was posted in reference to people who didn't really believe Dansby was hurt and was slacking.

It is the message boards that continue to perpetuate the myth. The whole thing started with Dennis Green who we all now know wasn't all there during his tenure in the AZ. As for Wolfley his job is to stir things up for his radio program.

No they're not. 3 guys over 30 and Gerald Hayes. Victor Hobson who lost his last two jobs because he had trouble adjusting to the 3-4 defense, 2nd year player Ali Highsmith who weighs 220lbs and played in only 6 games last year on special teams, and Pago Togafu who has 18 tackles in 2 seasons.

In addition it is veteran players who win not rookies and 2nd year guys. The Cards were loaded with veteran players last season. That is why they went to the SuperBowl.

Pittsburgh was as well. Its been said many times that while the Steelers do let go high priced or older veterans they don't do it until they have someone with 2-3 years experience to replace them.

Good to see Calvin Pace still visits this board.

I agree. I don't think we have another WILB that could take Dansby's spot.

The person who could best fill his spot on this team would have to be A-Dub IMO.

I was hoping we would go after Danell Ellerbe (and maybe we did) in UDFA. He looks to have all the tools to play the position. He was picked up by the Ravens who know something about linebackers. He did have some off field issues which might have taken him off our board.

every clip I saw this year inside the cards locker room seemed to have either Whisenhunt or Dansby speaking. He seems like a vocal leader, and without really knowing what goes on at practice and on the field, chemistry-wise, I don't know how you could call out Dansby like he's being called out in this thread.

Bottom line is the team we have had this past year, when they want to play, have an absolute juggernaut of an offense, game-changing special teams, and a front 7 of the defense that can shut down the best running games out there (Atlanta, Carolina, etc.).

You don't mess with that chemistry. You don't trade away core players who make up that chemistry. Tons of teams have talent, few talented teams can really play together well like this one did. That's why you don't trade the Boldins, Dansbys, Wilson's, Warner's, etc. of the team. You step up, pay them, and make another run.

You are so right Vince56. As we all know the Grass is not ever greener on the other side. Our Chemistry last year from the middle of the year on was growing by leaps and bounds. Why would any one want to break it up. This throw away society we live in really sucks. We all should be happy with what we now have...!!!

Why would anyone want to break up that great chemistry? I don't know, ask Dansby.

He'll give you about 25 million or so reasons.

The Cards need to step up and give Dansby those reasons.

Dont think your rebuttal holds much water considering he was still playing for another contract.
yes it does. First off, name me a player who isn't playing for another contract. The whole NFL is. He said when Karlos got big money that he'd tank it and become lazy. He got 8 million and didn't do that. Unless you don't think 8 mill is a big amount. He won't do it this year either for 9mill+. That shows he's received 17 mill+ in guaranteed money and still plays at a high level. So,yes, that holds water to me.

I agree DuckJakeDelhomme.

Wrong. Duckjake refers to Jake Williams. A Tackle from TCU who played for the Cards back when 40 year first went on Social Security.

Mulli...??? That reminds me of DONALD's favorite former Cardinal player.

Wayne Mulligan a C from Clemson.

Wondered where you got that handle.
