Thank god for the mediocrity of the NFC West.
Thank god for the mediocrity of the NFC West.
I heard Gruden say the other night that there is no tougher game than an opener against a divisional foe on the road. Dolphins squeaked out a win against Buffalo on the road. Colts, Chargers, Cowboys & Niners all lost on the road & all were favored. Hell, Chicago should have lost to a divisional foe & they were at home. Look, we have to expect that we may have some ugly wins (and losses) early on. This offense had Warner at the helm for almost 4 years. Rythym doesn't come overnight. Not only do the players have a huge adjustment, but so do the coaches. The Cardinals are a solid team, more cohesive on D right now. The O will come around. If it doesn't, in short order, we'll see Max out there.
I'm not sold on "In any other Divison" nonsense. How can you make that statement one week into the season. What if Seattle is for real & wins 12 games. The Rams will win 5-6 games before everything is said. Hell, I had to suffer watching the Cardinals play in the NFC East for 30 years. I'm not about to apologize for playing in the NFC West.

But you can't really count the Cards in that stat because we've only opened at home like 3 times since 1989. And one of those was because of the postponement of games in 2001.
this is such horse-manure. This team better start at home 3 of the next 4 seasons.
Seriously... 2 scheduled home-openers since 1988... it's crap. We've had the dome for 5 years and STILL have opened away from home 3 out of 5 times. Throws us a freaking bone NFL.

I get it, but I don't want to tailgate in early September in Glendale, either.
It would be great if we were good enough to earn a night game as a home opener, but Glendale at 3 in the afternoon in September is no fun.
Last year especially, the NFC West wasn't much good. The Niners were 3-7 against non-divisional opponents; the Seahawks were 2-8; the Rams were 1-9.
But the Cardinals were 6-4.
If the Cards swept their division and won only a few non-division games against wek opponents, then the criticism of the NFCW becomes valid in their case. But they beat the Giants and Bears on the road, plus the Vikings at home. They had every right to be in the postseason.
I'm usually a pretty big defender of the NFC West - people talk crap, but the teams that make the playoffs from this division beat the big boys regularly and show well in the playoffs ....... it's not a fluke that they are there competing
when seattle was good all I heard was how lucky they were to not play in the NFC East and have to face all those good team ... too bad over that span they were like 11-1 against NFCE teams including 3-0 in the playoffs and some convincing wins (like handing the eagles one of their worst losses on monday night in philadelphia)
however, this year I really don't see a good team in the west .... i know it's early and a lot can change, but I don't see a team from this division being of the quality where they would be able to finish with a better record than some of the better teams ....... I don't see any of them consistently on par with GB, MN, NO, Atl ... the NFCE is off to a shaky start, but the Giants and Cowboys should turn out alright and the redskins and eagles should be a tough game most weeks
I would put the best in this division ahead of the likes of the lions, bears, bucs and most of the bottom half teams in those divisions
You can always put on more clothes (I like cold weather), but if you get too comfortable here you end up breaking laws and with a really bad sunburn.Apparently it is still fun to tailgate when it is 35 degrees in Green Bay or Pittsburgh because you never hear their fans complain about it so they don't lose games in December.
We won the first playoff round, too, against a heavily favored Packers team.
Come to think of it, have we ever played a post season game where WE were favored ?

the same future forecaster that makes you think the light will stay on for Dorsey (the DT from LSU) for the rest of the season even though it's been off for the past 2
you see - that's why I put in that whole "I know it's early and a lot can change" thing ........ which means that it's how I see things as now
and for as high as you guys are on your williams us seahawk fans can be on our williams .... bottom line is neither has done anything in the NFL and rookie WRs generally make a marginal impact at best throughout the history of the league - there are some exceptions, most of which aren't undrafted .......... but then again you have the expectation that Williams will help you in the stretch in a major way, which is definitely soothsaying
so yeah - this is how I read it right now - i have every right to be wrong with how I read it and you have every right to debate how I read it
but from what I believe of the talent levels on the various rosters, I see way too many gaps in the NFCW teams to be amongst the top 8 teams in the NFC
now I could wait until it all plays out and then give a historical recap - but first off, that's boring ...... second of all, it's safe .... and lastly, pretty much any dope can tell you what happened and some can even go into the why
then again - you do have a very important and vital message ... i think we should start a collection to send you to vegas to preach to all those who dare have the audacity to not only predict future outcomes - but to even place bets based on their confidence of those outcomes
as a quick recap in your post you make a few future seeing predictions:
- Packers can't replace talent like Ryan Grant - you have a time machine to see their trades, how the backups will perform, etc
- Williams will be an impact player down the stretch for the Cardinals
- The light is on for Dorsey after one game
Then in other posts you make a lot of predictions
You also state that you are in the markets .... how can you do that .... you never know when an unseen emerging competitor may devalue one of your holdings, or maybe a CEO will have a heart attack causing the stock to plummet
- On the falcons game - "A close win awesome battle or we get doubled up is my prediction."
- :Has nothing to do with grading out the team after one pre-season game.Last years pre-season was ugly too. Our division will be wide open this season excluding the Rams for at least 2 years."
- "I think all of us knew Daryl was the real deal watching TCU last season. Now under Lot and an NFL weight lifting and 12 month NFL training schedule and learning our tricky 3-4 defense inside and out he'll be a leader.Speed conquers all."
- "If the Cardinals start the season with Monty as part of our ILB rotation (IN Any Way) we will not win more than 7 games period"
- "I see us taking a couple steps backwards this year."
You like to call people out a lot for their crystal balls and audacity to have an opinion on future events .... but you sure don't shy away from it yourself
I want the advantage for our players to be at home and could care less about the burden on our fans.
but jeez... the Cowboys have opened 6 of 7 times on the road? That's a head scratcher too... I mean, it's not THAT hot in Dallas this time of year, but it might makes some sense in that they're almost a sure sell-out on the road as one of the leagues top-draws and the NFL wants to have as much capacity as possible on opening weekend.
