BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football defensive lineman Marcus Burris Jr. has entered the transfer portal, per multiple reports.
The move comes after the Hoosiers wrapped up spring practice on Thursday night with a scrimmage at Memorial Stadium.
Burris, a former Aggie who was part of former coach Tom Allen's large transfer haul going into the 2023 season, was a versatile piece for IU as a defender who was capable of playing tackle and end. Last season, he had 14 tackles with two for a loss and a sack in 296 snaps.
He's played in 33 career games (11 starts) over four seasons as a former four-star prospect out of Pleasant Grove High School in Texas. He was the No. 137-rated prospect in the 2021 signing class with 16 scholarship offers including Alabama, LSU, Miami, Oregon and Texas.
Burris was mostly seen practicing with the second-team defense during open portions of practice this spring.
The Hoosiers brought in a pair of transfers at tackle — Hosea Wheeler (Western Kentucky) and Dominique Ratcliffe (Texas State) — and were expecting sophomore defensive ends Mario Landino and Daniel Ndukwe to take on larger roles this season alongside returning starter Mikail Kamara, who led the FBS last season with 68 quarterback pressures.
