ASU's D looks horrible. It could be a long night if they don't get it together.

Man, watching this defense... I can't remember ever seeing so many guys on the field at once, who could care less about winning (or playing period)

ZERO intensity on this team right now.

I fully expected ASU to lose this game. (I picked Rutgers in the bowl contest thread.) But, I didn't think they would be this BAD.

Yeah, the extension for Koetter and this bowl game will do wonders for recruiting.

EDIT: The Devils just forced a fumble on a big hit. Maybe they can turn it around now.

Offense has decided to play in the 2nd half.
Lets see if the D will join the party or not.

The game has certainly become entertaining. Rutgers' secondary is just atrocious. Some of those long passes by Carpenter were just lobbed down there and those guys just can't make a play on the ball.

31-30 now, I think ASU should win. They shouldn't outscore ASU as bad as their secondary is.

Good stand by the D after the fumble.
I agree ASU should be able to pick apart their secondary.
It is an entertaining game.

ASU is not making it easy on themselves though. A TD called back on a holding call and now it's 2nd and 27. ASU is their own worst enemy.

Touchdown ASU!

Yet another lob pass caught right in the middle of the Rutgers defenders.

ASU survives a horrible start and just wears down Rutgers in the last half of the fourth quarter. The run game has just taken over.

I think what impressed me most in this game is how many ASU guys, especially on offense, played hurt. They were tougher than I thought, and I'm an ASU fan.

Rutgers gets the ball with just under 3 minutes, down by 12.

The adrenaline wore off for Rutgers and the better team took over.

Uh, oh.....

If ASU doesn't cover the onside kick, they could be in real trouble.

Nearly the entire team was recovering from the flu also.

Good game. I'll take a bowl game victory any day.

I would rather have those then what ever the hell UA has. They can't even get to the mid major.

The lack of expectations ASU fans have for their football program never ceases to amaze me. If Stoops concludes his fifth year in Tucson and we're still not competing for the Pac-10, I expect him to start packing his bags.

What does UA have to do with it? Ryan isn't a Wildcat fan that I know of. He was simply stating the obvious.

With all of their bluster about ASU being an elite program, the university and their fans are consistently satisfied with mediocrity.

Nothing. Their football season was over weeks ago. :D

Oh yeah - we're satisfied.

Gimme a break.

We'll take the results, especially when our redshirt freshman takes over for our starter and consistently put up huge numbers, but we're not satisfied.

We want to win it all.

Bull crap. I teach at ASU, graduated from ASU and my dad is a prof at ASU since 1975. I've haven't heard a single person claim ASU is an "elite" program. In fact, everyone I know is embarassed by state of the basketball team and puzzled as to why Koetter got an extension. Nobody's thrilled by an Insight bowl win. But, it does beat sitting around and trying to convince yourself your recruiting class will make you good someday.

Mao - Please give me a break. You are normally one of the most level headed UA fans I have seen but you know damn well that expectations are much higher for me. If you don't you are blind. This coming from fans who are happy with a coach that has lead a team to 4 D1 wins in 2 seasons. But he is Stoops and he can recruit, forget the fact that he has personally blown numerous games in the past 2 years. The guy has yet to prove that he can be a head coach.

Keep fooling yourself about expectations. My expectation is to be in a BCS game but if not to still be in a bowl game, not just to get to 5 or 6 wins.
