Fantasy Football talk with Joe Dolan and Matt Camp....

Thinks the Patriots are scouting Lamar Jackson....see us as a threat. Maybe the Pats trade their two firsts to the Packers for 14. On the other hand, he thinks our roster is so bad that the thinking could be we give up a QB search for this season and wait until 2019.

As much as I want Jackson, I’d be okay getting their firsts and then maybe getting a QB in the 2nd. We could use a CB and a WR.

Thoughts?

I’ll take that but given Keims drafting history it will be two busts, and/or a small-school project with one good game. I just don’t trust him drafting for the future. He nails the later rounds after the 2nd though. Get Lamar, have him sit for 2years.

Too many mind games and rumors going on between teams as they try to jockey for position and fake out their rivals.

Just don't see Belicheat going for LJ. Too much difference in playing styles between Brady and Jackson that would require a major rewrite of the Patriot playbook.

The best way to force the hand of a rival team is to announce/pretend/float the rumor that you are interested in one guy hoping that team goes after that guy---leaving the one you really want on the draft board.

Signing both Bradford and Glennon leads me to believe that the Cards are going the 'young vet' route when it comes to QB. The plan would be for Bradford to stay healthy and becomes the franchise QB for the next 7 years. If that doesn't work, the fallback will be for Glennon to get a shot at being the starter. If both those fail and we go down the drain, then we're at the top of the draft and get our rookie QB.

But, but if LJ is a dynamic franchise QB... well, we will look pretty stupid trading those picks away no matter who we select with those bevy of picks :)

I got a look of the prospects draft tracker visits
Often happen the players they show interest prior of the draft wont be selected by arizona

Has been reported the fellowing qb's being linked to the cardinals
Kay Allen (Houston)
Rudolph (OkSU)
Lauletta(richmond)
Mayfield (Oklahoma)
Rosen(ucla)
I though Lamar was worth a look, and the fact cardinals hasnt been linked to him make me thinking he could be the guy

Another point worth of consideration
The defensive backs, outside of A db from Tulane (nickerson 5'10'') the others defensive backs are over 6' feet

There's no way the Patriots take Jackson he doesn't fit that offense at all. I'd bet they take Rudolph. If they don't the Steelers, Chargers or Bills will..... https://pistolsfiringblog.com/new-england-patriots-hold-private-workout-with-mason-rudolph/

Belichick doesn’t like dumb players anywhere on his team, especially at QB. This is all nonsense imo.

I don't put much stock in visits - they may just be one more city on a tour of several pro hqs. Or it could just be an agent proving he's worth his salt.

As for L Jackson - my gut tells me his unique skill-set may not fit what Wilks and McCoy have in mind for the Card offense. (Maybe I'm wrong - the vibes just seem to point that way).

But a lot of teams have looked smart when drafting QB's in later rounds.... The Cardinals are not one of them.
I've always said that we should be drafting a QB every couple years until you find one that you think can lead your franchise we just simply never draft QBs. As far as those teams looking smart, I think there's more of a Luck factor involved if these teams were all so smart they wouldnt have passed on them in the first rd. I do think you improve your chances at getting lucky by actually drafting the position wish Keim did what he said when he first got GM job.

We are the worst team in our division. I see us finishing 2-4 in our division. We play the AFC West, and aren’t better than any of those teams. Let’s assume 1-3. That puts us at 3-7 right there.

We aren’t winning the division. We aren’t doing anything. Why not trade down, accumulate resources and assets, see where we are after this season and then use our top 10 pick to get a qb next season?

Man do I agree with this. If you do this one of two things happens:

1. You eventually find your QBOTF
2. You may build capital for trades (see the old packers with Favre - didn’t they trade three QBs drafted during his tenure that they traded for superior draft picks?)

Oh, I guess there’s a third outcome - you suck so bad at QB talent identification that you squander a lot of draft picks with nothing to show for it. But that’s essentially the Keim model now, without the upside of potentially hitting on a QBOTF.

I think belicheck sees and coaches past the wonderlic score- Lamar has some superior talents and belicheck has been very adaptive he could win with him if Brady goes downhill- I’m a bpa guy - unless you have none - like you know QB - we now have a great talent at qb and borderline starter - some said the same about Palmer and Warner - if Lamar is there he could bpa at 15 - take him and don’t look back.

Patriots won't take Jackson, no way. He doesn't fit their offense at all. They will take Rudolph, mark it down.

I agree. Also,...everyone forgets that the Pats had a long sit down with Mason Rudolph at the senior bowl.

He fits their need...a young guy with potential who needs to sit for a couple years... they can nab him up and sit him until the goat retires... rudolph has the skillset to run their offense.
