Is anyone else getting a kick out Shaq v. Kobe or is it just me?

Man - those two guys just aren't pulling any punches on eachother.

Now this is going to sound blasphemous - especially on this board - but if it comes out that Kobe's is indeed innocent and the girl is proven to be a fraud - should the suns get in the sweepstakes to try and nab him? I would say everyone but Amare is fodder - Even (and I know the flaming I'm gonna get for this) Marbury.

With Kobe and Amare - we would have the best two young players in the game - bar none. You could build around those two - I mean if we gave up Marbury, Joe Johnson and a first round pick for Kobe, we could still field a team with Kobe, Marion and Amare as the core - that would be absolutely sick - no one would be able to beat that team in the future - NO ONE - hell, If I had to - I'd even think about throwing Marion and Marbs for Kobe (although that trade is a whole nother story)

Of course all this is predicated oin Kobe being shown incontrovertibly to be innocent and the girl being a complete fraud - otherwise - I don't touch him with a ten foot pole.

Alright guys - have at it.

I think Bryant is a terrific player and I'm quite confident he'll be acquitted. Whether he actually committed this crime, we'll never know (unfortunately), but I don't think it's going to affect his career much.

With the whole family-values thing that the Suns are going after since the Kidd fiasco, I doubt they'd ever consider bringing Bryant to the team, even if (when) he is acquitted. But sure, I'd trade Marbury for him in a heartbeat. Nothing against Marbury, but Bryant is already one of the top five (three?) players in the league, and he's a year younger.

Giving up both Marion and Marbury would probably be too much, although even that would merit consideration. If Bryant leaves the Lakers, his new team will win titles, sooner or later. In my opinion, he's that good.

I agree with everything you said.

Family values: Frank Johnson, still married, having an affair with a sponsor's wife. Stephon Marbury, extreme dui. Both since the Kidd fiasco.

I don't care where Kobe goes...I just hope he goes.

Well, no one cares about Frank Johnson, because we all know he's a joke anyway. :p

Regarding Marbury, that was indeed a great embarrassment to the organization. The problem is that they were stuck, because they had just dumped Kidd for him, and they had to keep up appearances that they knew what they were doing. So they had to tough it out with Marbury, but I'll bet anything they were really unhappy about it.

BIM - are you saying you have problems with the Big Moron in all thius nonsense? Shaq is the most pathetic superstar I've ever seen. Someone who has to proclaim themselves the greatest ever, proclaim that the lakers are his team and blame everyone else when all goes wrong with the amount of taeltn he has is beyond words pathetic to me. Kobe will be gone soon and the championships will end - oh wait a sec - they already did. It'll be nice seeing Shaq go back to losing in the first or second round every year and getting his ass swept out of the playoffs.

BRING ON THE SEASON! I think this year is gonna be one for the NBA books!

I am really enjoying this Kobe/Shaq thing, if for no other reason these players are finally just letting loose and saying what they really think.

The political correctness (read team chemistry mumbo jumbo) is gone.

Reading the ESPN site lately is like watching Jerry Springer in slo mo.

I am a Lakers fan, often in spite of some of the players that make up the roster. :D

Shaq is a freaking moron. He never takes responsibility. Kobe, for all his faults, is way more intelligent than Shaq. Both of them are stupid, and I'm going to enjoy watching the Lakers self destruct this year.

Kobe is not stupid, but he is incredibly incredibly arrogant. Its still a team game. Neither of them are likable. But then again, neither is Karl Malone or Gary Payton.

The day that the Suns acquire KoMe is the very last day I watch the Phoenix Suns...at least until they ditch him.

The only reason KoMe has anything is because of Shaq.

You could put any top level SG with Shaq and they would be title favorites because no one can stop Shaq except Shaq (injuries or poor conditioning).

Heck, KoMe isn't even the best guy at his position...that is Tracy McGrady.

Shaq is the biggest SOB in the NBA. I would trade Marion, Marbury and a couple of picks for Bryant in a heartbeat. Bryant+Stoudemire= champioship.

I'm with Chris: if Kobe joins, I'm gone.

Kobe's a great player, and I'm not obsessed with morality. It's just that I can't stand his way of playing the game.

Karl Malone is the other player that would cause me to stop rooting for the Suns...the Lakers must be so proud to have both of them at the same time. With Shaq and Payton, they've got to be the least likeable team in NBA history. (And that's after they got rid of Robert wHorry.)

I love the verbal sparring, btw. The best part is that both players are absolutely right, as long as they talk about each other.

Not Marbury and Marion but I would likely trade Marion for him ( of course not if he is likely guilty and going to jail).
We could have Kobe at the 2 and JJ at the 3.

And what moron would give you Kobe for Shawn Marion? Marion doesn't even come close. What's with the love affair with JJ? Maybe Lakers will take JJ in return for Kobe.:D

I'm sure the Lakers wouldn't mind having Marion vs. losing Kobe for nothing during free agency.

They could do much better. They could get a better player who makes less money. We are talking about the Lakers here, not Utah Jazz.

Yeah how many better players make less money than Shawn Marion while they still have to be packaged to match Kobe's salary?

There can't be more than 15 or so because Shawn Marion is for sure a top 20 player at least.

Payton and Malone make 1/2 of what Marion makes, and each of them is much betterr than Marion. As I said, we are talking about the Lakers, they can always get what they want.

You can't be serious.

None of them is better than Marion and even if they were they are old as dirt and not even worth half as much as Marion.
