At least the announcers are finally warming up to the fact that Housler blows instead of constantly hyping up his mythical "potential"

He runs terrible patterns, can't block, has bad hands, and doesn't look back to QB when the ball is thrown his way. Other than that, he's pretty good and can run fast.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Lol

I admit it has taken me some time to warm up to Dray at TE, but in comparison to Housler, he looks great. As RugbyMuffin said, why not give Sperry a try.

I wonder if the Cards will take a long look at that Oregon Tight end? He

would fit Arians offense.

Wait! Next year will be his breakout year! If not, then certainly the year after that...

I don't think that Housler "sucks". I just don't think that he's that good. He's certainly not a "superstar", as our GM was saying outright just seven or eight months ago. He's just a slightly below-average NFL starting TE.

Ryan Williams is garbage who probably doesn't belong on an NFL roster, and hasn't even illustrated that he belongs in the league outside of some preseason practices three years ago and one carry last August (that promptly sent him to the training room).

I'd say that the hype/reality gap between Ryan Williams and Rob Housler is greater in the former due to draft status and continuing unsupported nonsense.

It's madness that neither have scored a pro TD yet.

I have to admit... since I place far more trust in BA and SK than myself or anyone else when it comes to personnel, I am bummed that RW just might be that - "garbage". It's hard to believe that he has yet to suit up for a game. It's so hard to fathom that he might be worse than Fonzy or even Taylor... I'm bummed - big time, as I really thought he was going to see some playing time this season. Bummer...

As for Housler, I really believe he's garbage as well... On Sunday, he played about as bad of a game as a TE is capable of playing. He missed/whiffed/fanned on several blocks. He was putrid from a blocking perspective. And in terms of running routes... holy crap is he awful. It's almost as if he is in his own world/bubble and is totally oblivious to what is going on around him... like a friggin football game!! I don't know what he scored on the wonderlic, but man I wouldn't be surprised if he was at a Vince Young level...

even Levi Brown scored a touchdown by his third year! (or was it his fourth). still...you'd think Housler would stumble into one by now. dude's dogmeat out there.

Hell, Dan Williams scored one first! Of course, it isn't completely fair. The NT does have a full year on the TE in the league.

Except last year he did catching passes and running over defenders. I think something is up with him mentally...

This. He has shown he can do it. Something is up. Maybe the offense is too complicated? Don't know & don't get it.

What happened to this guy. Especially against the Rams. He seemed to have his best games against them last year.

I honestly think that Michael Floyd took his touches/routes/reps. There really isn't any other way to explain it.

When I first saw the post I thought K9 was talking about Andre Roberts. :D

He gets worse by the week. Can't block, can't run routes and can't catch the ball. I can't wait to see him gone. Tight end is arguably the easiest position to play in football and Housler should be easily replaceable. I just don't understand what he is doing in the league

We need to draft and play a younger TE. BA isn't afraid to play young players.

He would have had a touchdown today if he had just turned his head to track the ball in the air. Instead he turned his body and missed the pass completely.

People will blame Fitzgerald for the fumble, but Housler cost us any shot at the game. Housler is just lost on the field. He does not belong in the NFL and never did

Also doesn't show the speed everyone talks about. Talk about slow & unathletic running routes. :bang:

If we're talking about the same play the ball was going in the opposite direction of Housler and he tried to turn to find it. Maybe he should have stopped his route and turned to where palmer was running but that pass not being caught wasn't Houslers fault he was wide open Palmer just led him the opposite direction.

The play that annoyed me was the short pass he caught in the 2nd half where he ran right into the only defender there, who got him down by one leg. You could even see I think Roberts staring at him like dude what are you doing.

I am talking about a conglomeration of poor play since he was drafted. He is terrible and not having a TE is killing us.

Sure but none of that was the reason we lost today. If Palmer leads him correctly we might have won today.

That's the difference I saw, when the 49ers needed big plays, someone made them, Kap on the move, Gore etc. When we needed big plays nobody, especially Palmer, could make one.

I realize Palmer is not mobile but Housler is wide open there and when Palmer is rolling he can already see what direction Rob is running, he just led him the wrong way.

It appears to me Houslers' plays have been cut severely, he wasn't out there nearly as often today and that was the case 2nd half last week too.
