It certainly looks like Housler is now the #2 TE on the roster. I was seeing formations when there was only one tight end on the field, and he was a Stanford Man.

Dray has outplayed him easily this year, imo. He's a better blocker too, obviously.

Is Sperry still on the roster? Inactive?

The Cards can't cover a TE and can't find one to play for them. They did have this one guy named Jay Novacek who played for them 5 years. But his best season with them was 1988 when he caught 38 passes for 569 yards and 4 touchdowns. So we gave up on him and he went to Dallas where he was a key contributor for the Cowboys offense in the early 1990s, especially on third downs. Starting in 1991, he played in five straight Pro Bowls, while helping the Cowboys make the playoffs each year and winning the Super Bowl three times in four seasons. What's with the Cards and TE's?

Yep, I mentioned that last week in the 2nd half it appears like Housler is not on the field as much, like Arians has lost some confidence in him based on lack of production and has taken snaps from him.

A call out thread ?

Really ?

It's one game.

I tip my hat for his performance yesterday, but it is one game.

I take nothing back stated in this thread.

Yet, I hope he continues to do well.

Seems like everyone thinks he sucks. He did not suck yesterday. I thought he played well.

He played very well yesterday.

Hopefully, he'll be a big performer for the team. Performance = wins. And Housler performance = close ups. :p

it only took 3 years. I wont give him props until he repe3ats it. I will say the one diving catch was incredible. I also liked his effort on on the one play where he dragged the defender. The screen for a TD was solid but the OL was awesome on that play

Fickle bunch. Housler had 6 games last year with 4 or more catches. Same guy no real change that I can see. Still can't block a lick and I know he wasn't drafted to be a blocker but that raises the question as to why both CKW and Arians put him in position where he has to make key blocks?

Agree.

The "it's only one game" argument is a valid one, but something can be said for the principle that "if a dude can make a play once, it proves he is able to do it and he can be coached to do it again.

I thought Housler looked more field-aware, quicker and body-flexible yesterday than he had all year. It makes me wonder if his nagging injuries bothered him more than we knew and that his improved play is the result of finally being healthier.

Dude still blows. He just got an extra dose of Clifford Franklin stick-um. That's it until he proves me wrong. One decent game does cancel 2.5 yrs of suckage.

Very obvious to me that Housler has the most athleticism and speed of all our TE's. His route running, instincts and hands are the issues. He has shown he can make tough catches so I think the hands issue goes away as he gets more comfortable with the routes etc. He is still thinking too much while running his routes which doesn't allow his athleticism to shine through, IMHO.

This was his best game by far because he showed good hands, power and good instincts. On the TD run he let the play develop and kept his blocker in front of him instead of charging straight ahead. That showed me that he is getting more comfortable out there.

Agreed, but never the less, I picked him up in one of my FF leagues just in case. :D
