Here is how I see it. Gentry is a good coach, there where to many issues this year mainly at the start with Hedo bust, which was not his doing.
1) Gentry rolled the dice on Carter, I am sure he thought Carter would get up to speed and be ready come playoff time. This has to be the only reason he was still in the starting line up. (Remember everyone wanted to get ride of JRich the first year also, but I think Carter is done!)
2) Dudley is ready to take the starting gig from Carter and I think he will be our SG or SF depending on if Hill retires going into next season unless we are able to draft a stud SG or SF.
3) Brooks was a gamble and at times looks good but I would rather we do a sign & trade with him next year. He is an ok back up but you can finder a cheaper alternative in FA or Draft.
4) Lopez injured his back and is not 100%, I think he might have surgery at the end of the season. I am sure the Suns will try to move him or keep him on until his rookie salary runs out. Another big man that is not going to last do to injury.
5) Nash & Hill these guys have been ridden all year long and due to others not producing the minutes have been breaking them down. It is not Gentry's doing he just doesn't have many options.
6) Gortot is the real deal a big man that is everything we needed for years. The biggest thing is he is staying healthy and still developing into a good off. player.
7) WE NEED AN ATHLETIC PF, I hope we try to get Josh Smith for Atl or Look to the draft to develope one (Perry Jones). Fry is good and I think he is a very good option right now and I think he should be on the team.
All in all I think Gentry is a good coach and my expectations for this team where low with the loss of Amare. I think we could rebound next year and be back in the bottom of the West playoff teams.
