Is Mike Vick an option at this point?

Listen I have been the first to shoot down Vick coming to AZ last offseason as I just didn't see ANYWAY that it made sense. I am not as up in arms as many are about the dog fighting and feel he served his time, but at the end of the day, at least prior to that arrest, he was a thug and I didn't like him one bit.

So yes, Vick made NO SENSE whatsoever previously with KW manning the ship.

But things have changed now. There is some criteria that go into bringing in a new QB and here is what they are.

A) Legit enough option to keep Matt's fire lit

B) But not so accomplished that it would show Matt the org isn't behind him

C) Reasonable cost

D) Someone with starting experience in case Matt busts

SOOOOO we all know this about out brilliant head coach. He likes to get creative with the offense and have guys on the team you have to game plan for and can give you headaches. We also know he is not opposed to bringing in a two QB rotation as witnessed the first go round with Matt as a starter.

Our locker room is much more vet like at this point and a culture and program has been established. Not to mention a year has gone by so all the media circus and PETA unrest will 10X less dramatic.

From Vick's perspective, the Cardinals position would be enticing because there is no established QB and all the weapons available.

Personally I think Matt playing and bringing in Vick 10 times a game would be pretty awesome. Towards the end of the year you could see he was getting his feet under him and while I was one of those people who thought he wouldn't do anything after being in prison for 2 years, the end of the year showed me he still had some juice.

So as pie in the sky as I thought it was previously, It seems like I just made a pretty good argument of why it might work. Anyone else think this is a TERRIBLE idea? (Besides Nidan of course :) )

Good idea or not, I can't see the Bidwills bringing in someone with these types of character issues, past or not. Just not their style.....

Shane I am totally on the same boat with you as I hate his game as a QB as a game in, game out starter. But I watched alot of Eagles this year and towards the end both his throwing and running started to look real nice.

Opposed to a back up like everyone else is mentioning who wouldn't bring anything to the table provided Matt stays healthy, Vick could come in 10 times a game and potentially be a real difference maker.

At least I think so. Andy Reid was starting to get some good things out of him at the end of the year, and AZ would be as good as spot as any for the FA QB.

One thing's consistent with the Cards: they only try to bring in people with clean records and high class personalities.

In a vacuum I'd say yes, but because of the aforementioned and that he is a shell of his former self talent-wise, not going to happen

That rules out Vick then.

I hate that Sob, his talent is irrelevant

Yup because there aint much there. He is a physical freak and always has been. But his QB talent is completely questionable. He's a RB with a really strong arm.

You can't replace Warner with Vick from a character standpoint alone. As a fan, it's not just about the on-field performance. I don't want to have to cheer for Vick.

No, no, NO!

Leinart is going to be the starter next year, and any vet brought in will be be the journeyman type.

I would be allowed no football in my house, it takes my wife a lot longer to forgive than me. That said we need a back up qb and Vick does not fill that.

HELL NO!!!

The Bidwills seem to always want players with littlle or no problems off the field, so I would chances of that happening are zero.

The guy doesn't even run like he used to. He never could pass. I don't believe he is an option even as a backup.

And like Nidan I am a dog lover. I despise Vick.

No.

If we want an atheletic QB that can't read a defense for cheap then we can bring back Josh McNown.

A guy like Pennington or Carr gives you that, without the massive publicity headaches.
