Is the MVP voting over? I would think it would have leaked by now.

I'm thinking there would be alot of people voting that would have changed their minds by now on who should win the MVP.

I remember in previous years the award was leaked on who would win. Even though they are supposed to only vote on the regular season, if they haven't yet I think many would change their vote. I think it would be embrassing for many of them to vote for a guy who might not even make it to the second round and who isn't playing well. The whole argument for Dirk over Nash is that he is playing for the best team.

Geez this part of the message board is alot slower than the Cardinals side, even though we're in the playoffs, thought I would get a quick comment by now.

It seems like in a previous thread someone mentioned the voting is already over with though. If I recall correctly we knew Nash was the MVP last year due to the fact one of our sports writers did a talley of voters and knew from that it was Nash..haven't seen that yet.

Last year the award was given out around this time, but I heard it's being given out in over a week from now. I don't understand why but it's supposed to be a regular season award so I'd think it's over...

The voting is done. It ended when the regular season ended. I think last year didn't Nash get the trophy during the Clippers series? And the year before during the Mavs series? I think the trophy is usually given out around that time. Its pretty certain that Dirk won, which is why we need to cheer even harder for Golden State to knock Dallas out, because if Dirk has to accept the trophy during a press conference because his team was bumped, I will laugh and laugh.

I was pretty sure Nash got the award near the mid-point of round 1 vs. the Lakers...that's why I remember the Lakers fans being extra excited about them leading 3-1 after Nash won it over Kobe...

Oh okay, so it was just the votes that got out that made the Lakers fans mad, not the actually trophy ceremony.

At the time, I think Scoop was merely reporting on what his gut was telling him. He didn't have any tangible info.

A poll by the Dallas Morning News has Dirk winning pretty handedly. I think the informal poll tallied something like 1/5 of actual voters.

i do think dirk deserves to be mvp this year..
seriously..

but i really want nash and dirk to be co-mvps..

then after dallas gets eliminated,

nash and dirk would hoist the mvp trophy in game 1 of suns-spurs series
=)

Scoop Jackson reported weeks ago that Steve Nash has won his 3rd MVP award...

I am pretty sure he just said that he was voting for him and so should others. But he did not know if he won or not.

How did they know last year before the trophy was given? I think it was in the Arizona Republic or the Tribune that he won weeks before it was given.

why?
because a 7 footer who doesn't play defense and can't even avg 10 boards a game who disappears at the end of games deserves the MVP

are u freakin kidding me
it amazes me the knowledge of some fans out there

Unlike Larry Bird, I would not be upset with a tie. But I'm hoping for a Dirk win. In fact I'm pulling for the Hasselhoff fan. It'll take pressure off of Nash's shoulders (god knows he has enough).

Of course Stevie is the MVP. There's no question. But I"m still pulling for Dirk. Let Stevie -- or Amare -- win the MVP next season, and the Suns the ring :)

I don't understand how there would be extra pressure on Nash if he wins the award. I don't think he cares about it either way. The playoffs give him all the pressure he needs.

After watching today's games, I suspect that Baron Davis would be right up there...

Dirk has won the MVP I think. However, did you hear what Brent Barry said today. If he could change his vote he would. I think if most people could see how Dirk has played thus far versus Nash, there would probably be lots of people who would change their votes.

I'm pretty sure he meant Jon Barry, not Brent. And it was during yesterday's Suns/Lakers broadcast.
