Is there a NFL team out there that would start McCown next year?

TIf they cut Carr loose it would be interesting to see how many more offers he gets than Josh.
If Carr gets cut loose, he's easily the best QB in FA. Easily. He'd probably get an offer from any team that needs a QB and maybe from a few that think they might be okay at QB.

If Warner commands 5 to 6 mil does Carr get 8? I would not give him that and I think most teams outside of the Jets would have a hard time giving him that. He may stay for a reduced number with the Texans but he is not worth Franchise Qb money IMO. As Russ said, he holds the ball to long and even with a decent running game could not find any consistancy thru the air.

The only thing I like about Carr is his wife. Seriously, I think he will be fine with an offensive line.

It's intersting, Carr has a rocket arm, I could see Heimerdinger doing backflips in NY to get him. And certainly coming in as the first pick in a new franchise is not easy, and nobody thinks they have a good pass blocking OL.

The problem I see with Carr is he regressed MASSIVELY this year. Carr was sacked 76 times as a rookie, then only 15 the next year(150 less attempts), then 49 last year (20 more attempts than his rookie year) and then 68 times this year in 40 less attempts than last year. Guys with 4 years in the NFL are not supposed to take huge steps back like that.

Last year they were trying to put in a system similar to Denver's to get Carr out of the pocket to use his legs. Seemed to help his YPA number went way up, but then plummeted again this year.

He has obvious talent and has had a lot more pressure on him in Houston than Josh did in Arizona so I gotta believe teams will rank him well ahead of Josh. But there does seem to be "something missing". He holds the ball too long, at some point he's got to get past that.

I think Houston will hang on to him, they have to be realistic they can either get Bush or trade him for a slew of picks. This is their chance to upgrade the talent around Carr, getting rid of him now is like starting from scratch.

Russ who do you think the Texans will land as their coach?

Not a clue, I read Stoops was their choice but I have no idea if that's true.

Chandler AZ.
Josh is leaving. Green as much as sais it today.
I hadn't thought of the Dallas option, but, that's a good o-line and really decent running game, with good WR's. Maybe.
Jet's, Miami-possibilities.
Raiders- no. i agree with Russ, they like Andrew.
Baltimore-possible.
Packers- very possible because they'll be rebuilding from scratch. The only hitch will be if their coach goes, what will the new scheme be?
Two things wil matter for josh, other than the obvious o-line and running game.
First-what kind of scheme is the offensive philosophy.
Second-what kind of a QB coach do they have.
Those two things wil make all the difference in the world.
Money will be between 3-6 mill. Guaranteed the starting job, probably not.
Lead horse in the race, definitely.

Early rumors I've heard:

Al Saunders, offensive coordinator of KC, will go to Detroit. If so, Warner or McCown might be on his list of potential qb's. Warner because of familiarity, McCown because the Card's OC was Saunders' TE coach. It's a connection of sorts.

Oakland interested in Martz. If Martz lands that job, watch how fast he dumps Collins. Martz has raved about Carr in the past and he'll need a new qb to run things for Jordan, Moss, Porter, et al.

Minnesota possibly dumping Culpepper. If so, Miami will step up first and strong because their OC is Culpepper's old coordinator from Minnesota.

Warner competing with Boller in Baltimore? I thought it was a perfect fit last year when he was a free agent but Billick doesn't seem to have any interest or connection.

I heard Detriot is looking at Mike Singletary, which would be a horrible choice at this point in his coaching career, but Detriot has made some bad decisions in the past.

Actually, I like the idea of Singletary as a HC. Was it so horrible to bring Del Rio up quickly? Singletary is all of the coach he is.

Interesting rumors. Why would Warner compete with Boller in Baltimore when he'd get the job handed to him here? Besides money.

If Culpepper became available, would the Cards dump Warner and go after him?

I think they might if 'Pep passed his physicals--which seems to be a dicey proposition from what I hear.

Someone else had mentioned that possibility, I hadn't heard it myself.
