Because one superstar is worth a lot more than three role players, particularly if you are a truly crappy team.

True, but if the Suns pick from Atlanta is high enough, teams might be able to still get a star player in that slot.

No one is going to make that trade w/ Phoenix, I know...but its fun to dream about.

Remember the rumor about about a year ago regarding a proposal by Memphis to trade for Amare in exchange for Pau Gasol and their No 1 draft pick? If it were offered to the Suns now, should we take it?

In my case, I'd be severly tempted...

Its tempting, especially knowing how bad Memphis' record is, but who knows what it would've been with Amare, its impossible to say.

As small of a chance as it is, Oden and/or Durant could end up being busts, we know Amare fits the Suns system perfect, so I'm glad the Suns stayed pat.

Plus I'm sure that wouldn't have been THIS years first rounder, it would've had all sorts of bullcrappy protections on it and what not.

Tempting indeed, if they have the #1 or #2 pick, Gasol and Oden/Durant for Amare is interesting.

I'd do that trade in a heartbeat. I love Amare as much as the next guy, but there's no way I could resist Oden/Gasol/Marion frontcourt. That would just be too good.

NO WAY! NO HOW. NOT A CHANCE!

There is no way you trade Amare simply because with Amare you know what you have. How many times have we seen college studs turn into duds in the NBA? There is just no way I would ever make that trade if it includes Amare.

Eh, I don't know. That may be one I'd have to consider strongly.

First of all, Amare's knee is still a question mark. Yes he's doing fine now, but you have to look four or five years down the line where there could be trouble. Second, you're already getting a proven commodity in Pau Gasol, who would be phenomenal with our system. Also, there's no way that Oden will be a bust. He's so good defensively, that the worst he'll be is Dikembe Mutumbo, which is hardly a bad thing. At his best he'll be a dominant center in the mold of David Robinson. Oden is going to come in immediately and drastically help improve our rebounding and defense, and IMO will definitely put us over the edge.

I would never guarantee that a kid coming out of college, where he had no challengers or players that could be considered his equals, is a sure thing. Both Oden and Durant are as close to a sure thing in the draft, but we don't know how they're gonna handle the NBA and everything that comes from that. I've seen great college players get comfortable and satisfied when they get that big paycheck.
