I still think he is a great option for us!
No, he deserves everything he gets and more. He has cost us enough games.

If the Cardinals can start playing better all around the game won't have to come down to the kicker as often.
He hasn't kicked well in clutch situations, that's for sure. But I still can't bring myself to want him gone. As a Cardinal, he set an NFL single season record. I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but his touchback ratio has to be better than most which is especially important cosidering our history of horrendous special teams coverage. I think he's even lead the league's kickers in tackles before!
2nd in the NFL isn't good? His touchback ratio was not very good last year either.

There are plenty of playoffs teams that got there because their kicker came through in the clutch.
ala Lawerence Tynes of the Giants.
Rackers is on a team that is involved in a lot of close games. The guy has to start coming through in the clutch.
BEYOND all that he had the worse FG percentage in the league last year. That is a fact, you can check it on NFL.com.
He is a horrible clutch kicker AND had the worst FG % last year. I think that justifies his reputation on this board.
Six of Rakers missed field goals were from beyond 50 yards. He only missed 3 field goals under 50 yards. These things need to be pointed out if you are going to fault him for having a low field goal percentage.
Fair enough.
He still should be dropped in my opinion.

We found him on the street. No body else in the league wanted him. There has to be other guys out there.Yeah, the problem is if you get rid of him, who do you replace him with? As for his clutchness, the team wants to play a tight, controlled, close game.... that madates a guy who hits the clutch kick.

Maybe if he didn't prove in '05 that he was more than physically capable of nailing 50+yders the team wouldn't attempt them.Actually, what I find interesting is his number of attempts over 50 yards.
He has the same number of attempts (9) as the top 7 kickers combined. Throw out Tennesse's kicker, and he has about the same number of attempts outside of 50 yards as the top 10 kickers combined.
Perhaps the coaching staff was leaning on him too much last year, going for super long fg's when they should have been pinning opponents deep.
I'm all for giving him another year, but I agree, he seems to choke in the clutch more often than not.
Go Cards!!!

Rackers missed the most important FG for the Cardinals in the last 10 years. A simple 40 yarder indoors at home. He should have been gone after that season.
First, the weather was beyond horrible. The windchill was like 30 below. Have you ever tried to kick a ball in the cold??? It freezes and is just like kicking a rock. I am amazed he was close in any of those attempts. For the record, the kick he made was the first 40+ ever made by anyone at Lambeau during the playoffs. That is CLUTCH!!!!!!!!You do remember that Tynes missed two 4th quarter field goals against GB right? Doesn't sound too clutch to me. Okay if it was snowing, but it wasn't. Give Rackers a break, FG's are all about timing and playing musical holders doesn't help the guy. I give him pre-season to see how he does and then we decide.
It's my understanding that Rackers was hurt almost the whole season last year. Has any one else heard this? Hmm?
