Has zero instict, he is always late reacting, his immense athletic talent is wasted for the great part
Ummmm, that right bear claw he used to snatch that ball shows he has instinct and isn't always late reacting. If that pass would have sailed past him, that would be another story.

He snatched that ball, like Ralph snatching a fly with chopsticks.

I would gamble that Simmons has a strong interception/snap ratio for a linebacker.... probably close to tops in the league

he's also tied for team lead in forced turnovers. He's got a nose for the football.

Not the first time either….

His build -- he is so long -- can make for difficulty trying to cover shiftier players in space, so that wont be a strength.

Better in zone -- and the instincts will get better with more experience

his splash plays ratio is pretty solid

That’s a coaching problem as far as I’m concerned. He has the talent and athletic ability to be an impact player. Have him rush the passer or whatever you need to do to minimize his need to “overthink”. There’s no reason he can’t be of the same mold as a guy like Micah Parsons if you put him in a position to succeed.

There’s a lot of reasons he can’t be in the same mold of Micah Parsons lol I wish this would stop being said.

".... and it reminds us to remember that the Cardinals have a collection of crazeeee gooood athletes."

Is that an example of the genius that is Steve Keim? Put together a group of the best athletes then teach them how to play football? If so, then our coaching or schemes must be lacking. Have we been critical of the wrong person all this time?

Why don’t you enlighten us with your reason? Because the measurables are all pretty much exact. Size, speed, athleticism, 40 time are all basically the same coming out.

Micah Parsons was a 5 star EDGE/pass-rusher coming out of high school. He knows all the nuances playing that position for so long despite getting moved to ILB once he got to college.

Simmons was a 3 star safety coming out of college. In college, he was a hybrid Safety/ILB. He has no nuance of how to rush the passer from the outside.

Simmons lacks the sudden twitch & explosiveness that Micah has. Simmons is more of a great linear athlete than an agile one like Parsons. There’s a reason Simmons didn’t run the 3-Cone at his pro day or combine.

Despite one’s feelings towards Vance, if he had a player in the same mold as a top 3 defensive player in the league like Micah Parsons, he would have been unleashed him already.

I'm not sure Vance would know what to do with anyone. lol

Again, say what you will but looking at their college stats they are basically identical. And that is with Simmons only playing part time at LB. Simmons had 11 sacks in 3 seasons, Parsons 6.5 in two. I don't care about how many stars they had coming out of high school. I could care less if you rush the passer from the outside, inside or upside down as long as you get the the QB. You can finagle the numbers any way you want but the fact of the matter is they are basically cut from the same cloth.

Well, if you see it as that black & white, no point of continuing this conversation.
