No. We won't get fair value and Fitz will be elite for the remainder of his contract. Dude is a fitness freak.
prettymuchLarry Fitzgerald and his contract are 100% UNTRADEABLE!
Sure I'll be stoned for this, but I'm so sick of hearing people say how Fitz deserves better. This organization has given him the biggest contract for a WR in NFL history, he played in a Super Bowl, he had a Hall of Fame quarterback, he's played on two division winners, and he's played in 6 playoff games. This all with 6-8 years left in his career.
Larry's had some pretty low moments of his career, but his highs have been higher than 99% of people who have played in the NFL.
Tony Gonzales just won the first playoff game of his career and he is hands down the best TE of all time.
Also, even if we traded Fitz, I doubt we would get much in return. That's a lot of money to take on.
It is the right thing to do and it is not fair to Fitz to make him waste his remaining prime years waiting 3 to 4 seasons for the team to be competitive again. It may be best to sell high and be fair to Fitz at the same time.
I really hate to write this, but it is time.
The "right thing to do"? What the hell does that mean? The "right thing to do" was to give him that contract so he'd be happy to stay. The "right thing" has nothing to do with pro-sports as a buisness. Fitz is not going anywhere unless we get 3 1st round picks for him, and since that's not going to happen any such talk is a waste of time.
For a rebuilding team, the "right" thing to do is acquire more picks. Fitz is way more valuable than Harvin and should be worth at least an additional first round pick. Larry is all world in every phase of the game and off the field...It's fair to Fitz because it gives him a chance to win and play with a real QB. What good is a bently if its driven by a blind man with one arm and no sense of direction?

A new team could always re-structure it.ok. but what dont you get about Fitz and his astronomical contract that makes him untradeable??
A new team could always re-structure it.
What if Minny offered their two #1 picks this year and a #1 next year? The Cards would have to consider that. They could add Jarvis Jones at 7, Geno Smith at 23, where he should be drafted anyway, and possibly a Johnathon Cooper, Eddie Lacy, or whoever at 25 while having two number picks in a much better draft next year. In fact, I do that trade if I'm the Cards.
It's the dumb idea that never goes away.
Since AW can no longer play OLB, look for more: 1)trade Fitz 2) Levi to OG, 3) Sherman to RB, and 4) PP to play more on offense.
Detroit should trade Johnson cuz they are I rebuild mode.

Agree 100%. Fitz deserved better and face it, right now he is a luxury this team can't adford. I'm not buying the bs about his contract #s make him un-tradable. He's one of the best WRs in his prime. Someone will trade for him. A team like Washington, NYG, PIT OR NE would love to have him.

But Fitz is 30 years old Harvin is 24. I bet the Vikings would give us one of
those first rounders for Fitz if the contract wasnt an issue.
FWIW: Fitz Sr. tweeted on that topic today. I assume Vikings fans are bringing it up. He said it's "not happening" that the Cards "like him for some reason. 15 m cap hit too".
