Can anyone tell me what is going on? Is it the coach or the team? Or is it both? This season is now a wash!

Whats worse? Being told youre going to to suck and then living up to it? Or being told youre great and then being horribly average?

Just curious,

Your friendly neighborhood Wildcat fan.

I would say the latter, the disappointment is greater, but at least there is hope. Oh, by the way, U of A would get blown out by NAU, and for that matter, any half decent pop warner team. :D

At least we have basketball season to look forward to. By the way if there's any other Cat fans on this board, let's get some posting going on. Goazcats.com is going premium and charging a monthly fee I want no part of.

Keep me in the loop. Im out of Pac 10 territory, and need the help staying caught up.

By theway CHris, I dont doubt that NAU could most likely beat the U of A right now. Hell the way our team is thinning, we might not be able to even field an entire lineup.

Dark DARK times for U of A football... Seems like only a couple years ago we were 12-1 and a preseason number 1.

ASU is about to go to 1-5 in conference after being smacked by Stanford. :)

U of A will hire Dan Hawkins, Mike Stoops or Ricky Hunley. We'll be back.

I don't know what ASU is going to do, but it sure doesn't look like ol' Dirk is the answer.

And?

No one is disputing that. But ASU is currently 1 and 10 under Dirk Koetter in the months of Nov and Dec. 1 and freaking 10! If there was ever a sign that a coach cant motivate his players, that is it.

You keep burying your head in the sand, and ASU will soon be looking at UP at the Cats in the PAC 10 standings (granted, it wont be next week when the Trojans roll up and down on us all night). We're both 1-5 right now, so you havent got much to hold onto when it comes to reminding us that we are only as bad as we were supposed to be. Your squad was top 15 in the preseason....

OVERRATED! OVERRATED!

And of course you are 100% correct, though I thought ASU was overrated when they were picked at #15.

Koetter has got to go, he's a hack who is in over his head. :D

Honestly, I dont understand it. I really thought he turned the corner last year.

No mater, the more pain ASU fans feel, the better I feel. Extend him again!

I've never understood why ASU extended Dirk after an 8-6 season. Oh well it looks like ASU is stuck with the guy while the Cats will have their pick of the litter. We'll be back in the upper half of the Pac 10 in three years.

Do you really think that? Especially after Livengood choose Mackovic last time. That was a terrible hire then, and an even worse hire now.

Heck, any coach that can't cut it at Texas, won't cut it at UofA.

It's more likely that Livengood will pick another failure, since it was so obvious that Mackovic was a bad hire even in the beginning...

Sounds like someone who is grasping straws to say anything bad about UofA. Unfortunately for you, it isn't working.

One bad hire doesn't reveal a string of failures. As much as I disliked Dick Tomey's coaching, he wasn't a bad guy. Unlike Mackovic, who had a fairly nice looking resume when he was hired.

I've been saying a lot of bad things about UofA? Where?

I'm criticizing Livengood, not the university. He stuck with Tomey too long, and then hired a coach that the game had passed by.

I've said on this thread, and other threads that I won't even make fun of UofA, because the situation is so bad down there.

Mackovic was a bad hire if you were familiar with his failures at Texas. Livengood hired him anyway, mainly because they were friends, and not because he was a "good" hire.

Spoken like a true Sun Devil fan. Getting excited over the possibility of maybe getting into the NCAA Tournament.

BTW Krang, as much of a mess the UA football program is in, I believe they're tied in the Pac 10 with ASU.

I am proud as a UofA Wildcat to say we are a basketball school. The UofA is a top-5 program. No Wildcat fan has ever said we are a football school. Winning a National Title and making 4 Final Fours and 2 Elite Eights is not too shabby and proof the UofA is a top basketball school.

There are ASU fans who think they have a top football program. I find that very funny. ASU is not a football school or a basketball school. Even their baseball program has not had the success they were used to under Brock.

I'm not saying ASU can't turn things around with the football program but it must be hard to look forward to any sport with high hopes.

By the way, I have been an avid Wildcat baseball fan and Andy Lopez has turned the program around. He has recruited exceptionally well and the team returns all their hitters except Brian Anderson.

They have some talented arms and if they can produce they will have a good shot at making the playoffs again and who knows, maybe Omaha. Lopez has the team believing.

I hope the baseball rivalry between the UofA and ASU can be what it once was.

Well, I despise ASU--but probably for different reasons than many other UofA supporters. My reason basically is that I lived my entire life within a couple miles of campus.

But, facing reality, ASU, record notwithstanding, is easily a better football school than UofA. It's the sad truth. But UofA is easily the better basketball school. Over the past 10 years, only UCLA has even come close to UofA's reputation as a basketball powerhouse. But ASU has most definitely shortened the gap, and now when the other Pac teams come to the state they have 2 programs that can beat anybody.

I am a UofA graduate and I think the main reason I don't like ASU is what their fans did to Steve Kerr and Jerry Kindal. It was despicable.

As for ASU, they have Ike and as long as he stays healthy they will be competitive. I think they need to find someone who can consistently hit the outside shot or else teams will pack it down low and make ASU beat them from the outside.

I think it will be an interesting season for basketball in the Pac-10. Besides Oregon State and Washington State, all the other schools will have a chance to get to the Big dance.

I think Ben Howland will turn things around for the Bruins faster than some think and playing a Bennett coached Washington State team will be as exciting as watching paint dry.

Let's not have some intrastate love in here. ASU deserves some amount of respect on the basketball court, true. But the U of A owns said court.

Football? Face it, we both suck. ANd historically both programs have never hovered much above utter mediocrity, with each school having a few but FEW nonetheless memorable seasons.

Baseball? ASU obviously owns that matchup. But I dont follow any sport where when the ball is hit, the sound is PING! and not CRACK!

Reality: ASU hates the U and the U hates ASU. Theres no amount of arguing in the world that will convince either of the bebfits of the other.

See you on the hardwoods.

Historically we were good. That's the problem.

We aren't anymore, and some Devils still believe we are. Go back to the 70's, and ASU had a great football tradition (pre-Pac-10).

ASU is actually pathetic, IMO. We have around 48,000 students, live in one of the more desireable locations, and have more beautiful women than most places in the country. Yet we are generally a .500 ball club.

I also agree (hot chicks)

It is so frustrating to watch the ASU games. I have so much hope every year, but it seems like we do not put out the money or go after the big name coaches, it seems like instead of shopping at Saks 5 Avenue, we are shopping a Wal-Mart for coaches! Though Rob Evans finally took us to the big dance it would of been nice to of gotten Rick Majerus. Must agree though we do have the hottest girls around.
