A point of trivia that may interest only me.. That orange ball on a stick that's is the background is a golf swing trainer. The Whip

I am not a fan of the coach being a bro to the players.

There is a professional line that shouldn't be crossed.

Just like at work. It's business. I am friendly with some of the subcontractors that work with and for me, but we keep business separate. It's a respect issue with me. JMO
Sounds like an “old” issue if you ask me . . . and I’m staring 50 in the face on Super Bowl Sunday.

FANTASTIC read which has me very Amped about the Cards future. Everyone who thinks the Cards are just throwing stuff against the wall and hoping it sticks or ………….. whatever should read this article.

On another note this entire thread is why I love ASFN, the contributions and opinions of everyone helped me learn a lot and of course a couple of chuckles as well (what orange ball).

Michael made a point that I don't recall reading in this thread; he said if they hired KK and the offense explodes like they expect then KK would get hired away to be a HC elsewhere. Then Rosen has to adapt to yet another scheme etc. and it limits how quickly he will get to his ceiling. Having your HC as the play caller keeps the chemistry etc. going and going and going. Very smart IMO.

I believe KK was their #1 choice and they got him and with plenty of time to get quality NFL coaches to support him as KK learns the NFL game.

As for concerns about the roster I think switching back to the 3-4 on D will fix most of our ills on that side of the ball. Yes we need a #2 CB but then the secondary is great. A true NT (Peters is solid but older) and a 3-4 DE should be added. A stud Lber is FA would make that unit decent.

On Offense the Oline needs addressed but KK's scheme should help them immediately. I would still focus on adding a ton of healthy talent to this group but it isn't the dire need before KK's signing.

No kidding. Those video clips are really awesome. I think the Cards ran something similar to the 'orbit' screen in the Eagle playoff game... Warner to Hightower, was it??

Started to sound like a reached by the time it got this nugget...

“There’s nothing balanced about 50% run-50% pass, ’cause that’s 50% stupid. What is balance is when you have five skill positions and all five of them are contributing to the effort in somewhat equal fashion — that’s balance. This notion that if you hand one guy 50% of the time and then you throw it to a combination of two guys the other 50% that you’re really balanced. You probably pat yourself on the back and tell yourself that. People have been doing that for decades. Well, then you’re delusional.”

Apparently the idea that allowing the defense to cheat because you get one dimensional is an advantage? No, the threat of run helps open up the pass and vice versa. Pretty lame to assume you can either run the ball and spread passes to only 2 receivers. In practice you often see one or two receivers with the biggest stats because in the NFL you're not able to put 4 Jerry Rice's on one team. The ball finds your most talented playmakers more often for obvious reasons.

The other reason it is look at college vs NFL roster size. TTU listed 117 players on their 2018 roster with 18 listed at WR alone.

If there is one difference I see between old school and new school it is that old school believes that if you execute perfectly the opposing team can know what you're going to do and still can't stop it. You can just impose your will on the the defense. New school looks for an advantage through confusion, disguise and deception.

I liken it to how the old constructs of war had both armies lineup and attack head on with mutual and predictable rules of engagement. Once guerilla warfare started those who stuck to the traditional warfare complained it was trickery and otherwise unfair.

I don't see a balance as being old school, it is more the like of evolving the playbook, formations and schemes in general both season to season and in season that is old school. McVay for example isn't running a wildly different offense than everyone elsew. What is different is his willingness to add new wrinkles and looks on a regular basis to keep the defense confused and remove predictability.

My hope is that we see Kingsbury adapt his offense to use more TEs in order to create mismatches from larger personnel groupings.

I like how K2 is filling his staff with experience. He knows he needs NFL and Cardinal help. Nice to see some familiar faces back with and influx of new minds.

Read yesterday that a wideout, surname Williams, who caught 100+ balls with over 1000 yds gained was given his release by the Edmonton Eskimos so he could sign with the Cards.
To paraphrase what Belichick once said about a different dude several years ago:

I guess we grabbed "the Best Available Williams."

If I offended anyone I apologize. I guess im worked up about all the hate this is getting from all directions. Just know that when everyone is ready to hop on this bandwagon, I'll be driving this train. Go Birdgang!
I'm glad you posted that. I'm not sure why (maybe chronic losing causes it) but I've noticed a significant spike in the amount of negativity evident in posts here.

Hey guys, however you feel, these are exciting times for the Cards - new coaches, new approach to the game, hope for success. Why all the snark? Everyone has a right to their opinion, but I'm surprised at the high heat-level. Why is that? Thoughts?
