I think Fitz, AZ's warm weather/dome, and Whisenhunt's heavy pass offense will be the determining factors in Peyton's decision.

Where ever Manning goes you can bet he will be calling most of the offense at the line of scrimmage and the team will have to build around Manning not the other way around. That discussion was sure a part of the one Manning had with any team he visited. Manning is not Manning if the OC is calling all the plays. That is what makes him special in a no huddle offense.

Not all players like domes and surely all do not like cactus vs snow and trees. I have lived in all sorts of places but not in an actual desert unless you count Lubbock, TX. It sure looked like a desert to me when I went through desert survival training. I know my wife would choose Denver over AZ but for me it was about who I worked with and what I was flying. The place was secondary. Iceland sounds cold but I had a great one year tour there. Vietnam sounds terrible. Actually it was. Cross of the jungle as a nice place to live. Cape Cod was a super place as I was a young bachelor and during the summer every two weeks we had a new group of young girls from N.Y. and Boston arrive. New Jersey is like you read about. One of the original colonies. My daughter was born there so I will not bad mouth it Jeff.

None of this even matters. Regardless of the above, Denver appears to be the favorite.

just like miami was the favorite

The Miami things was different and mostly just conjecture based on the fact he was staying there. Peyton only visited two teams and and that's all he will visit.

That tells me he always had those two teams in mind and probably had his mind made up but visited those two teams to confirm his decision.

then what is your basis for making Denver the favorite? He spent the same amount of time in both places and has said the order in which he visited was irrelevant.

People who cite unnamed sources to say "_____ is the favorite" have no credibility. Hell, half the time they are citing "League Sources". Really? Are those sources in the room with Peyton? At this point, if your last name isn't Manning, you don't have any clue what will happen. (Well, maybe Condon.)

I'm half convinced that the so-called pundits are just logging on to a Denver message board, picking out posts to suit their agenda, and then using them as their unnamed sources.

Since when does logic enter into this?

We're all just guessing.

I think the wife and kids will play a lot into this. You might also add his dad as part of the equation. I am not expecting him so I am not going to be disappointed. My thoughts are will be with Skelton and Kolb who I think we will live or die with. I am amazed that Mr. B. would let the Cards spend what it would take to bring in Peyton. I have this thought lurking in my head that this could be a sham to make the fans think something that will never happen. That thought comes from being a Cards fan for more than 60 years.

I am sure all the above is possible. However, Mortensen talked to Payton this morning. Peyton discussed with him how tired he was and that he was going to take his time to make the decision. So, obviously it's not so clear cut that Denver's roster is a high on Peyton's criteria.

If he wanted to create a true bidding war for his services, he would have travelled to KC, Seattle after Denver, and would definitely be taking the meeting with Miami. It's about fit and I'd imagine that Condon has told him that his preliminary talks has set the general parameters for compensation.

Said leveraging to get best deal from az, not generating a bidding war.

Well, one man's "leveraging" for a better deal is another's "seeking a higher bid for services". ;)

Both are designed to get more $$$.

He took a trip to visit his first two choices and 'kick the tires' so to speak. Now he is evaluating the teams to decide which franchise he wants to pursue contract negotiations with, or to visit a third franchise, e.g. the Dolphins.

From all reports he was very impressed with both Denver and Arizona. Other than his choice of college and spouse, this is probably the most important decision he has made thus far. I don't begrudge him the time to carefully consider his options. And I'm flattered that he chose my Cardinals as one of his top two options. This ain't your father's Cardinals anymore. WE DO MATTER, even if the biased national media doesn't yet get it.

I think it's no coincidence that the two teams he visited are in the two Western divisions. He's got to be looking at both as the easiest way to make the playoffs. On that end, it's basically a push. Maybe a slight edge to the AFC West with SF looking a bit tougher than San Diego, down the road, at this point.
