Ok did anybody see the Cardinals Cheerleader get out of the way on the sidelines, She looked like a deer in the head lights with a player heading for her and then: hopped and sprang away like the beautidful lil doe that she is.

I thought that was pretty quick reaction after she relized, We need her on the team!

As far as the Jets dude, the punishment is appropriate, He'll have to evaluate his players needs next year, if they keep him. I don't care about what could of happened, the player went down in pain.

John Lott would never do that, I think we give John Lott 5 minutes alone with him without media knowledge.

you know get your mind right! Wall to wall counseling.

I don't see anything wrong with that either. He was outside of the field of play and the player did not make every attempt to get back into the field of play in a timely manner. The opposing team shouldn't have to make it easier for that player either.
Hmm, reading the whole article changes my point of view on it. Interesting. Much more than if Vick can haz a poodlez.

Upon further review, does this qualify as dirty?

No. What makes it more laughable is the downed player's reaction. Looked as if he was shot. He rolled around in agony for all it was worth, then made a miraculous recovery and limped to the sideline.

His brother, Pete Alosi, works for Lott on the Cardinals' staff. He's an assistant strength and conditioning coach. Lott helped give the Jets coach his start. I think I heard they've already spoken.

Tell you what, you run by me at full speed and let me trip you and you tell me how you feel afterward because it's obvious this has never happened to you before.

That, and more, actually happens on every single play in a football game to almost every player. If the Dolphin player was running in the field of play, like the rules stipulate, the hits would have been a helluva lot worse than the one he took as a result of the trip. Give him an Oscar.

PS. You are assuming I never played any ball. Invalid.

It isn't like he just ran out of bounds. He was pushed out by the 2 Jets players. If you look at the punt at the beginning of the video you can see that and that he was angling to come in bounds. It's a cheap ass shot and now more cheap since the players that were standing next to the coach have said that the coach told them to stand by him, to form a wall, during the punts. It was a premeditated cheap shot.

That's within the rules too. You just can't push them again after they are out of bounds. He was running on the out of bounds stripe for at least 10-15 yards. He didn't get back into the field of play as soon as possible.

I wasn't saying that it wasn't within the rules. I'm saying that he wasn't just running down the sidelines, out of bounds illegally, not attempting to get back into the field of play as was implied.

Your idea of what "as soon as possible" and the NFL's are different. If your idea was the rule you would see guys running at 90 degree angles to get in bounds. He was trying to get on to the field of play.

I wasn't trying to be completely literal. Within reason. Running 15 yards un-impeded down the sideline isn't trying to get onto the field of play.

Tell that to the ref that was standing 10 yards behind him. I don't understand why you are trying to justify this. What that coach did has no place in a game. It is cheating. He became an active participant in the play and that is illegal. Apparently the Jets agree since they have now increased his suspension from the rest of the season to indefinitely.

Um, no. And you are making assumptions based on your own experiences. In other words, everybody should react as you would. That is a narrow world view. See, unlike you, I've actually been victim of something similar to what happened to Carroll. There is a big difference running down a field with the expectation of being hit and running at full speed only to be tripped up by something unexpected like a hole, rock, or a foot.

Does anyone really believe that others in the Jet's coaching staff didn't sign off on this tactic? This reeks of the whole NBA ref betting thing. Marginalize the guy who got caught to make sure he can't implicate anyone else.

Yeah, and the coach of the team is Buddy Ryan's son. They knew about it.

So he was running out of bounds, so that he wouldn't get hit? :shrug:Seems to me, for someone to plan the hit on him, there was probably a history of him and other Dolphins dong this. Bet he doesn't do it again.

The Tasker rule applies.

The NFL implemented the so-called Steve Tasker rule, a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty to deter gunners from intentionally running out of bounds to avoid a press.

Dolphins safety Reshad Jones was flagged for the Tasker rule two punts before Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi stuck his knee into Dolphins gunner Nolan Carroll, creating a firestorm of controversy.

Yeah, running down an NFL sideline, there might be people standing there. Watch out.

Agreed. There is nothing wrong with trying to gain an competitive advantage within the confines of the rules. The wall is one of those things that 99.9999% of the time is meaningless, but the one time it does work, it could have a big impact on a play. The coach just crossed the line when he went from passively watching the play to actively participating. For that one play, if nothing else, it was like the Jets had a 12th man.

Exactly. If everyone is standing where they were allowed, no problem. The coach went beyond that. The coach cheated.
