Then, by all means, bring him back. I want to see Nash retire a Sun.

I was fine with just bringing him back after his retirement and using him in the organization some way. But if there was a chance to get him a ring while increasing the likelihood we get one in the first place, it would just be perfect.

When Kobe was being drafted didn't he say that he didn't want to be drafted by Phoenix?

He said something like his two options were Suns and lakers. I don't remember his exact words and the CBA back then (example re-entering Draft or going to College if Drafted by so and so).

I'm not really in the bring back Nash crowd. But if we get Lebron and Steve is reasonably healthy and sitting around unsigned in the middle of the season... I'd love to add him as a spot up shooter for a championship run.

Steve

It would be cool to have him come in in the Steve Kerr role.

Kobe was not the point of my argument. FA's from other teams using Phoenix and then going elsewhere was. We never seem to land the piece. Or get the 1st pick. Or win the coin tosses. That's all I was saying. Karma, good fortune, etc is never on our side.

We've seen that several times through the years with the Cardinals although not so much with the Suns. The Suns haven't landed any of the big talents recently but we really haven't been in pursuit much either. We've not had luck with the coins or the ping pong balls but it's a pretty small sampling. I think our bad luck has shown up more in losing the wrong player at the wrong time.

I think we'll come up short on Lebron but it was always a long shot. And I think we're using him more than he's using us. We're getting some national attention out of this and there really aren't a lot of free agents out there that interest us. McDonough said it awhile ago, we really don't have a lot of needs. We need experience and the time it will take to determine just what we have in our young players.

Actually, the Suns have done well with FAs. Tom Chambers was the league's first unrestricted free agent, went to the Suns. Danny Manning was a hot property, took a cheap (initial) contract to come to Phoenix. Nash came to the Suns as a FA and immediately won two MVPs. The draft hasn't been kind to the Suns, but they have a better FA record than any franchise without a title, I'd guess.

Agree. Players have used as nothing more than a bargaining chip to get more money. We simply have not been a player destination for years now. We also never get low enough in the draft to have a shot at a franchise changing player. The Suns landed Chambers and probably Manning is a great signing. However, who else? Aging vets? Nash was pretty damn lucky and nobody thought he would do what he did here. He was not widely viewed as a LeBron MVP type signing.

I think after going 0-46 for titles the Suns have paid their penance to the NBA gods.

Melo is expected to sign back with the Knicks. What does this mean with our chances at LeBron? Nothing IMO.

Stephen A Smith just said that the Phoenix Suns have been very impressive on recruiting Lebron James...but Miami may still be in the lead to sign him.

In any other sport Lebron would be told to go to Phoenix to improve his legacy:

- getting to the finals with several different teams is usually an accomplishment not a negative
- playing in the West which really is really a different league altogether compared to the East - competing against the Best is only possible in the West
- historic franchise waiting for the Messiah - Lebron winning a ring here would mean more than his Miami rings - although that could be said of the Cavs as well.

I just don't get the Cavs story - he was there 7 years and the best player they managed to surround him with was Mo Williams?!? Sure Lebron can attract veteran free agents but not so much to go to Cleveland when you are competing with Chris Paul in LA, Duncan in SA and so on..

We are under the radar, everyone talking about Cleveland.

Even Woj tweets

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA 37 Min.

Yahoo Sources: LeBron James' agent is pushing for the superstar's return to Cleveland. http://yhoo.it/1m8EFAP

But in the same article he basically just says that Rich Paul told the Cavs that they are a possibility for Lebron. Probably same thing he would have told us.

First is was ALL MIAMI 99.99 percent. Now ESPN is pushing Cleveland hard.

But they did find this...oops.

Brian Windhorst: For 4 years, Dan Gilbert's letter after LeBron's decision has been on team website. It appears it was removed today: nba.com/cavaliers/news… Twitter @WindhorstESPN

On ESPN Windhorst said that's why he believes the Cavs believe they feel good about the situation.

I had to laugh at that. It more likely means that they removed it because they are supposed to be selling that Gilbert and the team are over that, and it's kind of hard to sell that if that letter was still on team website. If anything it showcases they are lying about that, because if he was truly over it, he would of removed it long ago.

So I see it more as a way to not screw up this opportunity to get Lebron back, not as a sign the Cavs like their chances.

A big question is, what happens if Lebron spurns them? Does it go back up? Does he make another? If anything like that ever goes back up, the Cavs may never get him back.

I can still see a possibility that Lebron comes here, somewhere else, or even returns to the Heat, and after this next contract is up, possibly going back. If he signs elsewhere he'll be 33 going on 34, and if he wants to move again, he still can help or maybe even lead a team to a championship. So this isn't the last shot for the Cavs, and it'll be interesting to see what happens if he spurns the Cavs.

If James' agent is really pushing for him to return to Cleveland, then the Suns hopes of signing him, however feeble, pretty much flew out the window. I can imagine his agent portraying other viable options, such as Phoenix, in a negative light, in hopes that if he does choose to leave Miami, he'll only think of Cleveland as a suitable home.

If he does choose Cleveland, its open season on Bosh. Houston wants him, but would have to do some wiggling to get the space.

I do love the thought of Pat Riley sitting there with nothing.

I think the Suns should pounce on Bosh, give him a max. Then at the trade deadline, trade him and a few picks for Love. He'll have no choice and be stuck in Minn. for the duration. The Suns get Love without giving up any other players. Minn. replaces Love with another "star" and max player, but we helped trick him into the sentence. Winner!

:)

This is true. I was watching First Take and they had a poll on what team would land Lebron James and the Phoenix Suns weren't on the poll.
