Go figure......while I think he has the potential to be a solid QB prospect, he ain't at this level in a trade scenario.

That's why I think that we'll get whatever we want for a Shelton. Hell there is even talk that Baltimore might trade for Starks and Thompson and it's being suggested that together, they would be worth a 2nd rounder.

At this time of the year it's fun to listen to all the hype.....but when the dust settles, cooler heads will prevail.

What's the source on this one?

I like the idea of bringing Gerrard in, but obviously not for a first round pick. Gerrard is a UFA next year, so it would make sense for the Jags to get something for him now while they still can.

Teams looking for a young quarterback who is less expensive than Drew Brees might want to dial up James "Shack" Harris. At 57, the Jaguars' vice president of player personnel and former NFL quarterback isn't making a comeback, but he has a passer who could fill the bill. Jaguars backup David Garrard is able and available. The asking price for Garrard: a first-round draft pick.
Garrard is entering the final year of his contract, so this is the Jags' last chance to get something in return for Garrard before he becomes a free agent. But if the Jaguars can't get substantial value in a trade, they'll have no problem keeping Garrard for a year as an insurance policy for Byron Leftwich.

3 starts in 3 years and a 50% completion guy...no thanks.
Garrard would be leaps and bounds available than what is going to be available in free agency. He's a very mobile QB, very tall, strong arm, etc. Most often compared to Dante Culpepper. While the average fan doesn't know this guy at all, NFL personel people do. He was actually setup to be a hot commodity a couple of years back, but was diagnosed with Crohn's disease which was thought to be career threatening. He has fully recovered from his ailment.

I believe in this guy. He could be a sneaky "Acquire him before he blossoms" type DG move. But for a first round pick? That's a little steep......

A first-round pick would be bad for us, but for a team like the Packers, who have a low-round pick that won't get much of an impact player, he would be a good pickup.

I'd probably rather have Gerrard than Smith or Rogers, but I'd be hesitant to give up a first rounder for him. Maybe a 2nd and Starks and/or Thompson?

What the heck has this Gerrard kid ever done except not be very accurate or not throw the ball deep in his starts so far in the NFL to justify giving up a 1st rounder for him.

I have seen all 3 game he has started in and he does not look like anything special at all.

He is this years AJ Feeley.

You DON'T fully recover from Crohn's disease. It is a disease you cope with for the rest of your life.

LOL...very tall? He is "listed" at 6-1 but that usually means 6-0...something. He is not very mobile, he is kinda chubby and he is nowhere near Culpepper.

Are we talking about the same guy?
