Per the Roto:

Free agent CB Jerraud Powers is visiting the Cardinals on Wednesday.
Powers, of course, spent the past three seasons playing for Arizona. They likely don't need to "visit" with each other. A signing could be imminent.

Probably only a one year offer, can never have enough corners. They need to add size & speed to the position.

Kevin Harris @KHarris7
@mikejurecki If he comes back are we not drafting another corner? Really wanted an upgrade

BA really likes Powers, initially his asking price was too high, off-season workouts start next week

I'd welcome him back on a 1-year deal that isn't high, but I don't want him at high, multi-year contract. He's serviceable, but we shouldn't be paying a premium for serviceable. It seems the rest of the league doesn't want to either.

I trust Keim to do right on this one.

we get Powers back in the fold, we'll really only have one really big hole @ C... and even there, if we were absolutely backed into a corner, we could probably resign Sendlien.

get this done on a oner and it opens up the possibility to do anything with that first pick.

One year at 3 or 4 mil would be great. He is a good player, but obviously an upgradable one. IMO, not a ton of difference between him and Leon Hall at this point.

I hope we get him but I think we still need a legit #2CB to develop over the next year.

Sign 'im to a 1 - 2 year deal, decent signing bonus. Serviceable works when you have a need.

Good news, bring him back for 1 or 2 years.

Chandler Jones makes Powers a little better next year.

All things equal, I'd prefer Powers as he knows the system.

Keim won't go that high ($3-4M) because he won't bid against himself or market value. Jerraud was offered in the $2M range by the Giants. That's the market on him right now and the market is pretty much drying up.

This is the truth. If we can have any kind of reasonable pass rush, our secondary should be much improved. Last year, QB's had all the time in the world to pick apart the secondary. I think Powers is average and good as a nickel/slot corner. Our #2 CB could still be upgraded.

Powers is very solid in our defense, especially if one considers the lack of a pass rush when he has played and the opposing team avoiding Peterson... the great thing about Jerraud is that he knows the system well and is very versatile :)

Fully agree. We would still need to draft a CB and C at some point in the draft but they don't have to be taken early.

If everything plays out as I hope then I want us to trade back and then take a D-lineman who can create an interior pass rush. Butler or Clark are my first choices. Then take CB or C since those are our biggest areas of opportunity.

Powers will not break the bank by any means. I would think a $2-2.5/year contract with incentives should get it done and that would be a good contract from the Cards point of view.

While, I'd prefer Leon Hall(if he's signed somewhere, I missed it) but Powers probably brings better value as he knows the system and has shown he can play well in it at a cheaper price.

I'd sign Powers to that deal.

Signing him makes a great deal of sense. His biggest asset is that he knows the defense. With the change at safety continuity would have increased value. He should be affordable.

So where are we with a vet CB? I still think we need one. Is it Powers? I also saw that the Skins cut Chris Culliver.

Despite BA comment I have to believe they'll sign a vet CB

Leon Hall is visiting the NYG today. The same team the signed 2 other CBs this offseason and just drafted one in the top 10 in the draft.

I've read Hall had back surgery which is why he is still available.

I LOVE what we've done this off-season, but man, I think it's a terrible idea going into the season with only PP and Bethel as guys who have ever really stepped on the field at CB. Powers at a lowered cost comeback in the slot seems like a no brainer to me.

They drafted two corners and a safety and have Tyrann. I doubt they sign anyone.

they drafted two projects and have a guy coming off his second ACL surgery, with a starting CB who looked pretty mediocre last year (and that's being super generous to Bethel). If the above is true, they're making a mistake, IMO.

Judging from the comments of the staff (specifically Terry Mcdonough this morning), you (and most pundants I've heard) view their draft picks more like 'projects' than they do. They expect Williams & Christian to make big contributions this year, and not just on special teams. Since they study lots of tape that we don't have access to, I'll take their word for it until we see otherwise.

That said - BA's comment about not needing to sign another corner seemed to me to be a negotiating move with Powers. They are taking his leverage away in hopes that he will concede and sign for whatever they offered, imo.
