Sources tell ESPNNewYork.com that the Jets have checked on JaMarcus Russell, and they have cursory interest in the former Oakland Raiders bust who was cut recently after reportedly ballooning to 300 pounds.

Russell, the No. 1 overall pick in 2007, is training in Arizona, trying to get in shape. Sources say the Arizona Cardinals or the Minnesota Vikings are the most likely landing spot for Russell, but the Jets have inquired by phone and received positive reports.

I know this was brought up two months ago, but the hilarity behind this has worn off.

Cards could use someone Russell's size.

At ILB.

(I'm guessing some genius at ESPN decided that, since JaMarcus is working out privately in AZ (as many NFL players do), the Cards must be a front-runner to sign him. Brilliant)!

Why would the Jets want to buy the Cardinals?

Maybe because that is the only way their owner will ever hoist a Lombardi Trophy?

hahah ESPN and their "sources" this time of year :biglaugh:

I Just sent you an Email from the Bleacher Report Sports news organization. This Article is by Jack London.

The only way en-which I would take JR would be as a TE. Not QB. The Bleacher Report Hate Matt L. in every article they replay Matt's old ways. Like Matt Hollywood, and Bong parties. This Sports Mag. is a real RAG.

Could you imagine if Russell let Lott get him in shape?

You'd have one of the most physically gifted, impressive QB specimens in the world......but also one that is dumb as a brick.

I heard that Cardinals are also interested in bringing in a shotgun, so they can shoot themselves in the foot.
