Well, since Rod spent all of his time on Warner, what else can we expect. Let the A. Smith sweepstakes begin.

Man, I'm trying not to freak over our lack of re-signing any players but this has all the markings of the summer after our '98 run. JJ had really come around for us and I don't think we even made an offer to him. :(

That's what angers me... Now we have to leave Edge hanging longer.

I wish him luck. He found a niche in the team last season and probably could have been even more dangerous had he been used more. However, I think he can be replaced quite easily with some smart offseason moves whether its draft or free agency.

It doesn't sound like a done deal yet, let's hope it doesn't pan out. :(

We lose our best screen threat and our best returner. Now we pretty much have to draft a return man. Stevie B should not be on ST at all... Changes things a bit. I always thought we could use an upgrade on KR's but JJ was, as you said, finding himself in this offense. Sucks...

This should all but guarantee the Cardinals taking Moreno/Wells/McCoy with pick #31.

You mean now we are forced to draft RB?

We arent forced to do anything. Last I checked we still have both Edge and Hightower on the roster. JJ is a career mediocre RB who couldnt crack more than 3rd on the depth chart. Even over a 5th round rookie! He is change of pace scat back who was nothing special in any way shape or form. Lets not be over dramatic about his loss.

You feel comfortable going into next season with 2, rather than 3, mediocre RB's? I agree Edge is more than decent, but he is expensive for his wear, and there are options elsewhere. I thought JJ was doing pretty damned well last season.

Speedy 3rd down change of pace back shouldnt be hard to find IMHO. JJ is th ekind of player IMO you are glad to see jettisoned. Mediocre at best ineffective if played a full time roll. Thus just not talented enough IMHO.

So who becomes the featured back who can get 4.0 yards per? I'm not saying JJ was that, but I could see a TH/JJ/Rookie or FA being more effective than a TH/Edge/Rookie or FA. I love Edge, but how much does he have left? Another playoff run?
