Notice that Denver signed both JJ and Buckhalter. JJ is most likely still going to be just a 3rd down back in Denver.

I also think his contract is going to be way more than his value. I'm guessing that once everyone sees his contract they will change there tune and start saying that Denver overpaid.

Steve, Denver has not yet signed any RBS, only scheduled visits. If they sign Buckhalter, JJ may look around a little more.

1. I don't like losing any player without knowing who we're getting to replace him. Right now we're down to Hightower, a cranky Edge and some unknown FA fillers.

2. We're going to need at least one RB/maybe two. They come in three forms (1) a thumper, (2) home run hitter and (3) all purpose back. (Note: Moreno fits a 4th category - a home-run hitting thumper - but unless we pull off a huge trade, we're not going to get him).

3. FYI - I just posted the Offensive Player write-ups on the BRS and came up with the following:

Thumpers
1. Moreno (a bit light at 208 lb/4.45) COMBINE = 4.61
2. Andre Brown (228 lbs/4.49)
4. Shonn Green (235 lbs/4.55) COMBINE = 4.65
8. Cedric Pearman (also light at 208 but is more of a thumper even though he ran a 4.45)
9. Javaris Williams (208/4.45) COMBINE = 4.52
10. Beanie Wells (237/downgraded due to his 4.59 Combine forty. If he could run north of 4.55 on his pro day, I'd probably move him back up).

Home Run Hitters
3. McCoy (210/War Room has a sick 4.30 time for him that needs rechecking)
5 Donald Brown (210/4.51)
6. James Davis (210/4.48) COMBINE =4.59
7. Kory Sheets (206/4.47)

And - I still have a suspicion there may be mutual interest between the Cards and Dedrick Ward.

I think it's only fair to compare everyones combine numbers.

I think Glen Coffee can be had in the 3rd to 4th rd and will be one of the S.O.T.D's IMO.

Wow surprised to see JJ going to denver, Shanahan would have never taken him he essentially got rid of Bell because he thought he wasn't tough enough.

JJ improved a lot the last 2 years but he's not the typical Shanahan back but obviously Shanahan is gone now.

The two running back thing interests me. I wonder if we double up on the running backs in the draft?

It seems unlikely but no one thought we would draft a defensive end last year and the Cardinals ended up selecting two.

If Javon Ringer drops into, say, the fourth or fifth round, there's your sleeper back who can fill that role probably better than Arrington just by showing up. It also gets Edge off the field on third down.

I like Ringer. I think this would be a great pickup.

Ah JJ.
Hated you as a draft pick.
Justified me for a while.
Grew into a player.

Didn't care for you as a return man, but loved you catching out of the backfield.

Good luck to you sir and may you have great success (except vs the Cardinals)!

C'mon Jeff, you're smarter than that. Beanie Wells 10th because of his combine 40 which, by the way, was faster than Moreno's 4.6+. Have you ever seen him play? LSU couldn't stop him. Texas couldn't stop him. Michigan couldn't stop him. Hell, nobody could stop him unless he was injured. And,don't forget, he wasn't exactly running behind a stellar OL at OSU. In fact, i would rate their OL as below average. Then you throw in that there was absolutely zero threat of a passing game with Pryor and he's even more impressive. Wells will be the 1st back off the board.

The number 1 speed threat at RB may be the kid from Wyoming. I can't remember his name right now.

Who drafted JJ to begin with?

:)

eh, he wasn't the worst product out of college. he had a ton of yards his senior year at Cal if I remember correctly.
and he proved his worth last year, but the FO must have known about this knee problem.

If people knew he was getting Microscopic knee surgery, I doubt as many people would want him here. With Stephens-Howling and Garvin to replace him I don't miss him any more.
