If the Suns can bring McDyess back -- and have fans again pining for him to stay, for chrissakes -- anything is possible.

Somehow that seems more likely. His reasons for leaving were more complicated, although just as frustrating. Years after the fact, he's satisfied playing a supporting role in Detroit and doing a good job of it. He'd be in the same boat here.

McDyess was only an expiring contract, but it was indeed suprising how quickly can some fans forgive. Although, IMO, the majority of the Suns fans that wanted to re-sign McDyess wasn't a Suns fan when Dice left Phoenix.

I was a fan back then and I wanted him back. He's basically what DA only wishes KT was - the athletic big man, who can hit the 15 footer, play good position D down low and play C for 20 minutes a game.

The Suns could have had McDyess, but messed it up.

Going into free agency the Suns cleared a large amount of space in an effort to sign by Nash and Okur. The story we heard was that they soured on Okur, but in reality it was just that it had become clear he was out of their price range.

Then the Suns decided to go for one of the three guards on market - Manu, Turk, and Q. Manu wouldn't even talk to the Suns and the Suns didn't do much to chase Turk. By that time Dice was off the board and the Suns went for Q instead.

Clearly the injury history Dice had made the team leary of going for him, but in retrospect he would have been a solid addition.

Interesting. I couldn't forget that he left the Suns. No doubt that he showed after the trade deadline that he would be a very useful complementary player.

It was a reasonable decision not to give him a sizeable contract because of his injuries.

i'm just not one to hold grudges, especially if I think a player can help us. what had happened in Denver might as well have happened back in the stone age - time heels all wounds when you can help a club play ball. and considering how good he looked, I don't think it was that unreasonable to offer the money the Pistons offered him. But, we got Q and had an amazing run, so I won't quibble about it that much. Just saying, I think he'd be DA's wet dream version of KT.

mcdyess can't play D like kurt. seriously anyone that thinks his D is overrated needs to watch him more closely. He's a freaking rock on the post. No one moves him. And his box outs are textbook. He is more valuable to this team than lots of people realize.
