Yeah. It was. They are not the same argument.

Before they reworked Humps contract I would have moved him and rolled with the backup that showed decent enough play to cover that position in a year with no expectations and then moved Paris over next year. Shedding Humps expensive contract. I made a similar suggestion last season.

But Humps dead money now makes that less attractive and considering Beachum is on a 2 year deal and Jones can't swing he was surplus to requirements and it was absolutely right to move him.
Hump was extended last March. You say you were advocating for this after Paris was drafted.

Still don’t get the timing. Jones having a good preseason. Teams sustaining injuries later will be more desperate. Why couldn’t they wait?
On Monday, over a 1000 players will be cut. It's a gamble to wait and not get anything in return. Not to mention the handful of players that will also be up for trades.

Hold on to him until the season starts. In season injuries occur every week. In the meantime we have our own depth that we all know will be needed.

But you said yourself this year is a write off. So why would you keep a backup in a bust year to let him walk for nothing when you can guarantee a 5th?

It makes no sense.

We have Beachum ahead of him. So 2 tackles would need to be hurt for Jones to start, in which case the season really is a write off.
To maybe help not get your returning-from-injury star big-money QB from getting killed? Makes literally ALL the sense.

But if you don't have a roster spot, that's doesn't work and then you have to drop someone on the OL. It's not all binary and there are several factors that they look at to get what they feel will be the best case for the team as a whole.

Teams are going to look at who's available on the street, before they make a trade...even if it's for a 7th rounder.

And the 4th string tackle should make that difference? I'd argue if any team can get a 5th for their OT4 they should snatch it.

Also, again, you have said repeatedly you haven't been impressed with Jones. Even this past year when he was at LT.

December: Jones sucks

August: Why only a 5th for our OT4. Monti sucks.

Please quote me where I said that.

I'm clowning the people who said that Josh Jones had turned the corner and believed he was a starting-caliber OT. I don't care about this move. Value seemed fine.

4th string lol If there are 4 tackles, 2 are first string, 2 are second string. Our second string OT does actually play during the season. Unless you posit no one goes down with injury on a single play?

But hey, reach on, brother.

Right now I like Jones better than Beacham. Still would prefer the depth versus the trade but that is just me.

Go to the games and stop being a whiny itch. You might enjoy watching a team that even with less talent, will play harder than they have since the Arians years.
Put your money where your mouth is and come out to multiple games every year. I’ll buy you a beer when I am there, like I have for the last 23+ years. Lol

I’ll be at the Washington, Pittsburgh, and Philly games this year. And I may also make a trip to AZ for a game. All I know is that I’ll vomit when there will be more visiting fans in the seats than Cardinal fans.

While you're technically correct here, Jones was going to be the fourth tackle if you were to rank the tackle. With Elijah Wilkinson on the roster, you have another guy who has started games at tackle on the NFL, and Jones has pretty much struggled at every position other than left tackle.

Disagree (respectfully). Jones was the 3rd string tackle for only 1 side (Left). He wasn’t 2nd or 4th. Just my opinion. So I have no problem with the timing of the trade if a team offered a 5th.

I don’t like making Texas better when you hold their picks. One win could really hurt.
I see the point, but they were going to pick up a tackle one way or another. It's not as though without the Jones trade they were going to be out of luck and suck even more this season.

Yep. And the Texans are sitting in the 2nd waiver position through week 4. MO is going to churn the bottom of our roster being in the 3rd spot.
