I think you re-sign McCown now! I mean Warner is solid but injury waiting to happen and I for one don't want our season down the drain if he goes down (which is likely). Navarre is a joke, Josh know's the system and has performed well in the system. Now that we may have a running game it would be that much easier for him. Not alot of QB's out there and we have NO back-up as far as I am concerned!

Thx DK. That's good info.

I suspect Detriot might be a good situation if Joey H. wasn't there. But as long as Millen is calling the shots, Joey will be the man. Josh could do worse than another year in Arizona. He'd likely get some playing time.

He also said that the Lions were going to cut Joey H. and give Josh a chance to compete for the starting job with Kitna in training camp. Kitna would be the starter and if Josh did well he could be the starter. Joey is due a huge roster bonus in June and the Lions are going to cut him before they have to pay the bonus. These are the words of the outsider on the Lions cutting Joey.

We had a converstaion on here about Navarre.....and his "being a joke". The consensus was that it is a totally unfair comment in that he has played but a total of one (1) quarter so far in his time with the Cardinals.

On what basis do you consider him to be a joke in light of the above?

It's more than a quarter of football people are judging Navarre on. It's also all the time he spent at Michigan in which he was a mediocre QB at best. If a guy can't figure out how to be a above average QB in college, then it's very doubtful he can become one at the professional level. Another one of the reasons I don't think McCown won't ever amount to much.

Then Jurecki is a moron. We're paying Step/Brown about a quarter of what we were paying Kendall and Shelton for similar production (or lack thereof is probably more applicable). If we still had Shelton and Kendall on this team with their bloated undeserved paychecks we probably wouldn't be celebrating all three of last weekend's signings.

Joke is unfair but this is a kid who essentially started his whole career at Michigan because Henson bolted for baseball. And in that time at Michigan, he was probably the LEAST popular QB in Michigan football history. Yes he holds school records, that will happen when you start as many games as he started. Yes he got better, and yes his first season was unfair, the plan was to redshirt him but the backup transferred out(to avoid Henson) and then Henson surprised everyone by going back on his word, and bolting for baseball, leaving Navarre the totally unprepared starter. but the fact is he was a mediocre college QB on a talented team, and he's done nothing in the NFL to suggest that he'll be anything but mediocre for us.

Green continues to tout him, but not play him. Green was touting Arrington, right up until he gave Edge huge money. Green doesn't badmouth players, especially ones he drafted, but to find out his true opinion of the player, you typically just have to look at his playing time.

If Navarre becomes a reasonable backup he'll have exceeded my expectations of him, he's just a big guy with a good arm but very little feel for the position.

Man those Lions blow a lot of smoke. Mike O'Hara of the News was reporting that Mike Martz wanted Joey there on March 6th to groom him as his QB starting from ground zero. Who can you believe? I'll say this MM would not be happy to waste an entire offseason on a guy Millen ends up cutting.

I don't know. It couldn't have been very much.

Jurecki is going off on DG right now. He's ripping him for the Oline situtation.

Says that in two years only 4 of his 14 draft picks are starters.

Step and E. Brown are nothing more than backups....cutting Shelton and Kendall was foolish.

Now that some time has passed......MJ is right. (man, never thought I'd say that.)

Yup.

He had some stats to back up Shelton and Kendall but I missed them, and am not going to do research because I wasn't a Shelton or Kendall fan. I'm not an Elton Brown fan either.

I like Elton Brown. I he stays committed... watch out.

I've heard rumors that Green didn't want to spend the cap space on Edge and that it was Michael Bidwill that pushed for the signing of Edge.

There was no consensus. He is a joke. There was only the spanky consensus.

I think he is a Joke because he has NEVER shown anything to say he's not! My grandmother (85) could chase him down, he has to be the slowest QB in the NFL and should consider himself lucky that he is on any roster. Why do you think he is not a joke Spanky? You think we could still win if Warner goes down and he is the backup? We are screwed if warner goes down and Navarre is our back up! SCREWED!!!

Mac's first 2 years: BIG, A. Wilson, KVB (pro bowl elsewhere) McCown

Tobin: Rice, Dexter (starter for awhile here) Plummer and Mark Smith

Ryan: (worst talent scout ever) J. Miller and F. Sanders

Bugel: Proehl, Centers, J. Johnson, Swann, A. Williams

If this was Jerkys list let me point out a couple of things, he's comparing Apples to Oranges, saying starters after several years but DG's rookies only get 1 or 2 years to be starters?? Good example is KVB who yes was a pro-bowler this last year, but his 1st year with AZ he was on IR most of the year, and 2nd year was just average because still coming back from the injury, and if your gonna count average then you have to count E. Brown last year, Step and Leckey when healthy.

Off topic, but I was at the mall today in Cheseapeake, VA and they had an autographed Elton Brown authentic Cardinal Helmit in the front window of one of the sports memorabielia stores.

It kinda threw me.

How about this stat: 13 of 14 of DGs draft picks have started at one point for the Cardinals.

Chandler AZ.
His only mistakes with the line was letting vets, who knew the game go.Kendal, for whatever reason, wasn't a smart move. He had the maxi to help the pups. Shelton was, imo, a bad move. DG couldn't get past something there. Then there was the revolving door that had anyone playing everywhere. Any QB or RB would look sick in that mess. But all in all it seems to be working out. Forget what their position label is and put them ion a position to do damage. I want O lineman that just want to crush anyone in front of them

Although I didn't hear Jureki's commments first hand I'd be hard pressed to agree with them.

From top to bottom Green's messure of athletic ability has allowed the Cardinals to have exceptional drafts the last two years (and off topic, but on the whole, pretty good FA signings. Okeafor and Berry as two shinning stars, the only dud so far being Ross and he's not done yet).

Since Green has been here, every draft day has been cause for celebration. Not every other Cardinal coach with the same tenure as Green can say that (which has been pointed out by others).

This team has some remarkable young players on it, thanks to Denny.

As for the Oline, it went from being very overpayed and fairly disapointing to being very low payed and fairly disapointing.
The end result is a draw, until they produce (and another new line coach could be the answer, we've not seen what Looney has to offer here) the argument between the "eras" of the Line is ultimately a way to pass the time.
