God I hope the Cardinals get Skelton in the 4th. You will love this kid. He just needs some seasoning.

I really want to believe this, but if Skelton's really that good of a prospect, what was he doing at Fordham? It's not like there are a ton of Div I teams with really amazing quarterbacks right now.

.John Skelton has been heavily scouted and is still being heavily scouted. My own opinion, Might be the reason why we tried to get that 4th rounder in the Boldin trade along with the 3rd rounder.

Really thinks we are going to draft a TE this year.
I like Skelton. Like you, I was thinking about how we might use the extra & upgraded picks.

For the middle rounds (with Boldin gone), I'm intrigued by Dorin Dickerson - a 220 lb TE who ran a 4.40 and who (with that kind of speed) could turn out to be a hellacious wideout.

And (although I remain skeptical of relying too much on Combine workout scores) I can't rid myself of the thought that it seems as though a light bulb went off for Steve Keim about how we draft CB's - i.e. you can draft for athletic talent (speed, ball skills, jumping ability etc.) plus aggressiveness to the ball and wind up with a DRC and a Greg Toler. One guy who hasn't been rated all that high who blew the roof off at Indy was AJ Jefferson.

The extra #3 and #4 would give us more opportunity to roll the dice a little on guys like these.

Finally - I realize that the Cards under Rod G isn't a "move up and down the ladder" kind of drafting team like New England or Dallas, but maybe this is the year when we do move up to grab a guy we absolutely must have or move down (in a very deep year) for extra picks.

Finally - I understand why we're doing what we're doing, but we are now in a very exposed position. We already lost Warner, Berry and now Boldin and could very possibly lose Dansby and Rolle. Talk about losing your so-called "core" players - we run the risk of blowing up a Cardinal roster that made it to the playoffs and the Super Bowl. Scary times.

Ryan Clark is on the radar.

Porter is still on the radar.

Yesterday he thought the chance of re-signing Dansby was 20%. Today is 50%. Going on 9 mill per year is an awesome deal. Might just take a small increase in guaranteed money.

Methinks 2 3rd round picks agree with you. Thinking positive thoughts that start with a G and end with ronkowski.

Big Ben was Quarterbacking (and apparently commiting sexual assault :) ) at little ol' Miami of Ohio with a simlar profile body wise.

Great, and good on Clark and Porter.

9 Mil per anum is a lot of mulah.....don't know if he's worth it, but it gives us multiple options in the draft. That's what they like....and it would take some pressure off a probable rookie starting in his place.

Skelton in the 4th......hmmmmm. I guess it's not too high if they're convinced he has more upside than a McCown lets say. There will still be a lot of potential D starters there in the 4th this year, IMO.

If we do sign Dansby and Gresham falls to 26, that's the pick right there they go with.

Sounds like a lot of players are texting and Calling Jurecki during the show today. Its funny because if you listen on line they don't play the commercials and you actually get to here their side conversations during the break. Lots of sounds of them typing. Not sure if this is a mistake or not but you get some side info they don't say on the show. Anyways the players texting and calling Jurecki during the show doesn't sound like they are upset that Boldin left but they keep mentioning how they are upset with what was received in return. May not be the case but it seems from the outside looking in and not hearing the other side of the conversation of course but it sounds like they are more upset with the lack of compensation the the actual loss of Boldin.

They are also highly scouting some guys from Troy.

Only players that come to mind is a couple of DE/OLB types, a ILB Boris Lee, and QB Levi Brown.

Yeah, but at least Miami of Ohio is Div I, and the conference has turned out some good QBs. Does Fordham even play in the FBS?

You know, it's a real possibility that they actually draft two rookie QB;s this draft. One for 3rd string and the other for the PS. They could follow Skelton with Brown.

Any guys coming out of Southern Illinois, Portland State, or Northern Iowa this year?

Wow. You took it old school. Good work. Don't see many Jim Hart references anymore.

Red Rob from this board is a good friend and a former resident of the Southern Illinois area. Keeps Jimmy Hart up front in our Cards convos over a glass of Crown or two.

I wouldn't be surprised by a QB in the 3rd or 4th rounds and I am also on the Dorin Dickerson bandwagon. Forget the size, and focus on his physicality at Pittsburgh, as well as his speed up the seam. He could be a tremendous weapon for the Cards in a full house backfield or a two-tight end set.

Well I just looked up at the postions of the picks we traded for...Basically we're drafting back to back in the 3rd and 4th rounds...I thought we would of made a bigger jump up in the draft postions

It's perfectly fine in my opinion. With how deep this draft is with defensive talent, even a low 3rd is about equal to a mid second from most years and the 4th's are similarly equal to a 3rd.

I'm sure we all would have been ecstatic with a second and additional pick, but I think most of us knew we weren't going to get a boatload in a trade anyhow. Plus, I like having the back to back picks in both rounds. Don't have to worry as much if the guy the Cards want will be there a few picks later. I'm sure that Whis and Co. have a pretty solid idea of who they want anyhow.

The extra third and fourth gives us options to move up in the second round if there is someone the team is particularly likes.

Yep, true enough. Also, can you imagine if, with a glut of talent is there when our 1st comes up, us trading back for more picks? Lordy lordy, what a haul we could have!

Cameron Sheffield & Brandon Lang. Lang had a very poor showing at the Combine where they said he struggled to get under 5.0 in the 40 and only did 19 reps I believe on the bench and did not impress in drills. Both guys had 7 sacks for Troy this year. I really like Lee he is just very undersized at a shade over 6'0 and 239 lbs.
