Someone please tell me what Graves has to gain by keeeping thenames of some players secret? This just goes onto the list of idiotic Graves statements. It's not the draft where there's an order and someone can take your guy.Why wouldn't you want people to know players you're interested in.And before someone posts that the Cards don't want to be used as a pawn in negotiations, there's 2 answers to that.First, you don't think a players agent is going to shop his clients' contract offer to other teams no matter what? And secondly,if the Cards were prepared and had an offer ready and were aggressive they could keep the player from leaving. Showing a player that your committed to them is part of the process.I wonder if Grvaes realizes that you have to pay for talent in the free agent market. The "keep us in mind" and "we'll get back to you" way of negotiating does not work.Graves is so afraid of overpaying a dime for a contract that he doesn't sign anybody worth anything.

I basically agree but remember a few years ago when this board was ripping the Pats and NEM for signing a group of nobodies? Fact is if Graves goes and says we want this role player and that role player, he might be identifying players that other teams weren't all that interested in. All it takes is one team to say hey you know what so and so might be a good fit for us too, and we lose a player.

But I do agree, FA's have egos and they like to see their name in print. They want to hear that teams want them.

Great points Russ. And, yes, I well remember the way we all made fun of the Pats' signings that season. They got away from that mode last year, signing Colvin, and it blew up on them. Ironic.

Great points?

Seems like nothing more than a bunch of nit picking to me.

NO!

You are soooo wrong!

King has given me one of my favorite NFL moments.

It was TB vs the Bears about 2 years back. King threw a pick, and while trying to go tackle the guy he threw the INT to King was almost killed by Urlacher.

It was great!

:D
