All I got was a postcard in the mail telling me I don't have to do anything since my bill is bundled with Qwest. The weasels didn't even tell me how much it cost, just "The whole process will be worry free, it will be on my qwest bill".

I hate paying for Superfan as well....

Watch a game in HD, then watch one without, and if you can't see the difference I don't know what to tell you.

I've become a bit of a snob about the HD stuff, I pass over a lot of shows now if they aren't in HD, even if they aren't sports. I equate it to waking up in the morning and not really being able to see clearly, then putting my eyeglasses on.

Besides, I spent $1300 on a tv to get the better picture, to watch the games in anything less than HD sucks. Even more than football, HD in hockey especially makes a huge difference.

The big hate I have to the HD upcharge is I already spend $120 a year to get HD feed from Directv, so this is a double charge.

My point is that the cost is too much (for HD) just get it with out and you save some $. I see the difference between HD and not HD but if I couldnt afford HD and I could afford the non HD version its a no brainer. Ill watch a cards game anyway I can.

I was told years ago that as long as i never cancel the NFL Ticket that I am grandfathered in for the cheapest price. I think it's $229. I don't do the superfan crap or hd. We'll see what they bill me this year. I am perfectly happy watching my beloved Cardinals on my "old" 36 inch regular tv.

I dont do HD, dont understand why you would pay so much extra for it. $270 is a bargain for me. Id spend 2000$ if I had to go out to a bar to watch the games on food and beer alone for a season.

Eh, shut up and go listen to your 8 tracks. :D

Great, so in addition to subsidizing Canada's pharmaceutical needs, we now subsidize your sports packages. :p

And Directv strikes again... Sunday Ticket will cost $370 this year if you want HD.

Well they're pricing me out, but if I want to watch the Cards with my son, I don't have a choice. I'm not taking him to a bar to watch the games. I originally thought, F directv and the NFL for giving them the exclusive rights and ability to gouge us. This sucks. I want to be able to watch the games with my son, he's really into it.

I hate the superfan upcharge as well, which is an old argument we've been into on this board before. I'm already paying ten bucks a month to get programming in HD, why do I have to pay another HD charge?

Arrrgh trying to pay off debt, trying to get some money in the bank so I can move back to Phoenix eventually, and trying to do all this with a new baby in my house. At some point, I can't afford these rates anymore.

Sorry for the rant. I know right now I should be glad to just have a job these days.

They wonder why people steal their signal!

i just called DTV and got Sunday Ticket renewed at 24.99 for 6 months(120$ savings). They wouldn't give me free superfan but to offset it they gave me free DVR service for 6 months(36$), free HD for 6 months(60$), and free showtime for 3 months. I told them i was trying to cut back on expenses and this what they offered. It can't hurt to try it.

you can get a deal on Sunday Ticket

Hey guys,
Long time lurker on this board but finally have something to add to the discussion. I recieved my notice as well and after looking around at some other boards I saw a lot of people were getting offered free superfan plus a $20 credit for 6 months by calling up. The key is you need to get to the save team not regular customer care. When you are prompted as to why you are calling say cancel service and you will be directed to the save team.

I called up yesterday and told the rep I was concerned about the cost and some of my friends had told me that they were offered deals. She offered me $50 off superfan right at the start. I told her I wanted the $20 credit plus free superfan and after putting me on hold for a couple of minutes she came back with a $10 credit for 6 months plus free superfan. She told me I couldn't get the $20 credit because I haven't been with directv long enough. I hope this helps anyone else who has sunday ticket and is irritated by what directv charges. Looking forward to a great season of watching the Cards.

Ok, I got a good deal. When you are prompted to tell what you are calling for, say "cancel" and you will not have to wait at all. When the agent comes on say you are being priced out and you want to cancel.

I recieved $10 off per month for hd access
$20 off per month the sunday ticket
superfan for free
showtime and starz free for 6 months

I am basically paying $14.99/month ($89 total) for ST with superfan

Ditto on this thread. I just called:

1. call the 800 number on the website
2. say 'cancel service'
3. you will be transferred to a CSR
4. tell the person "I want to cancel NFL Sunday Ticket, it has gotten too expensive"
5. CSR will look over your account
6. will come back to you with some sort of deal.

I signed up for Sunday Ticket w/Superfan and after reading this will call over the weekend and then re-post what kind of 'discount' they give me when I try to cancel.

BTW, it's not JUST HD, you get some other perks like watching games on your iphone and computer (including macs :)), and NFL Shortcuts, etc....

Totally worth the money IMO, regardless if I get a 'discount' or not.

Think of all the money you're saving on paying tax and tip and drinks at a bar or what not. Plus the risk of a DUI?
