Lance Mitchell is a second rounder. MAYBE third.

I'd also like to see Willis McGahee here. Somehow, some way.

keep McCown, draft a QB with the number 2 pick and actually sign some impact defensive players in free aqency - that should be the plan.

I mean -we have been hurting at QB for soooo long- and while Josh possesses good qualities - there's nothing I've seen so far that shows me he's a bonafide stud - so why not try to improve our chances as much as possible to actually get that QB - ala Manning, McNair, Culpepper, McNabb - who will have us in the playoffs every single year - or close to and can be the face of the team - give the team an identity.

I also don't think there are any defensive players out there at CB or DE that are worthy of the second pick and I sure as hell don't think a WR, who is not even the most talented WR is college football - is either.

Not a first rounder, no way.

Shipp on the other hand.....

Shipp to Pittsburgh, Randle El to Buffalo, McGahee to Arizona.
Muahahahahaaaa....

If we draft a reciever in the first round we are complete idiots.

Want a quarterback? Draft John Navarre from Michigan in the third.

Take Eli or Ben --

If McCown turns out to be the man, but Eli/Ben dont, well just chalk it up to the vagaries of the draft

If McCown isnt the man, but Eli/Ben are, then the Cards are set

Finally, if both are good QBs, there are worse problems to have, and young Qbs with upside have significant trade value -- see Brunnel, Hasselback or even Steve Walsh for crying out loud.

McCown didn't make me feel all that comfortable yesterday (at least not comfortable for us not to at least consider drafting Manning or Roethlisberger) - Josh was not accurate enough on a consistent basis and is still hasn't fully developed a 6th sense regarding pass rushers. Until/unless he can do so next week, I think the Cards have to leave the possibility of drafting a QBOF on the table.

Regarding trading down - It depends on value-received for value surrendered. Unless we were guaranteed at least one sure-fire (Roy Williams, Urlacher, Rogers, Woodson type) impact player after trading down, we shouldn't do it.
