ummm, hello .... some of us had been saying this from game 1.

Seems like they ran a lot more zone coverage yesterday (from what I heard/read) and that's where it shows. Now if they can find faster, more athletic, AND smart then they've hit the motherload, lol.

I hated Rashad before. But the last few years, he became smarter and was the Qb of our defense. He got burned sometimes but he set himself to succeed more than he gave up big plays.

Yup - horrid decision to let both go. Big Play lapses plus special teams cost us most of the games we lost

interesting

early in the spot Keim pretty much says, without naming names, that he regrets letting Rashaud Johnson and / or Powers go in favor of getting faster and more athletic

So, maybe its not the same exact team they had in 2016 ?

Hindsight is 20/20.

It is extremely hard to play defensive back in the NFL, and the system the Cardinals run, one missed tackle = 7 pts.

There is not a single defensive back that has not been in the fan's doghouse that has played for the Cardinals over the last decade. Patrick Peterson is touted as the best cornerback in the game, and he is currently getting roasted on the board this morning.

I really think when it comes to defensive back play, teams have to really hit the reset button, and I mean this on a league wide scale. The Saints being a perfect example. If Brees takes a 3 step drop, and fires the ball out in less than 2 seconds, and hits his mark.......there is not much a team can do against it but hope for a batted ball, bad throw, or really great play by the defensive back.

This type to setup is tilted to the offense. It just is.

Thus, Rashad Johnson getting TORCHED in Carolina last year was bad, but so was watching Brandon Williams get torched this year, or watching Marcus Cooper miss tackles. Yes, Jerraud Powers got beat a lot last year, but did he do any worse than Justin Bethel ?

Was Tyvon Branch much of an improvement ? I like Branch's play, but he is injury prone, and I didn't see too much more from Branch than Powers or Johnson.

Again, hindsight is 20/20. But, then again, it is not like Powers or Johnson broke the bank.

The absolute most frustrating thing about being an athlete is that when you are young, your have the ability to make up for your mental lapses, and when you get older, you have the mental part of the game down, and that makes up for your dwindling ability.

The problem is when your ability cannot make up for your mental screw ups, or your mental capabilities no longer can make up for your lack of physical ability.

None of this even addressed the fact that Mathieu becoming a shell of player he is paid to be is the biggest issue of all, and that our "Nickel Back" is being paid as a top safety, but doesn't play safety like a top safety.

The Cardinals secondary was pretty good in 2016, maybe the old adage of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" could have been applied, but then again, hindsight is 20/20.

Interesting topic going into the offseason that is for sure.

The biggest takeaway I got was him saying that he's talked to CC's agent and "it takes two." The innuendo of that remark is that the sides are far apart---and thus expect CC to hit the market.

Is that a surprise? The overwhelming consensus since last season was that CC would be gone after this season...
You simply can't give both Jones and CC what they want and then expect to be able to fill the multitude of holes elsewhere...

The full quote doesn't single CC out. It's generally reflective of the process with all of their FAs to be. CC and his agent could very well be on a sympatico path with BASK. We just won't know for a few more weeks.

I think CC is more about the respect than the $$...he's a quiet leader on the team and he may know that bolting for the highest $$ may require him to lead in a way he's not accustomed too, nor comfortable with.

Exactly that comment was clearly directed at one player and it may have nothing to do with a FA like Campbell it may be with someone they want to extend to cut the caphit.

Some teams don't like to talk contract during the season. Some players are exactly the same. The players who we want back and want to be back should get it figured out after the season. Campbell is putting up big numbers, and I am sure he wants to get paid like it. Kiem wants a good deal for the team. They will figure it out or Campbell will get a regrettable deal with another team.

If they let CC go we will be second guessing that decision even more than RJ/Powers. Who are we going to replace him with?

Maybe Denver, he was born there

This was the first place that jumped into my head. i don't believe will leave solely for money. The team will have to have defensive help, and will have to be competitive. Denver, Oakland, Dallas...those sorts of teams.

This will totally be taken as a troll comment, but good defensive coordinators do not have defenses with broken coverage's.

This game showed that our scheme is neither versatile nor well structured.

You know where he could make an impact that would be huge? Indianapolis. He'd be the best player on their defense immediately, and they're 2 defensive impact players away from a Super Bowl.

Robert Nkimdiche, Rodney Gunter, Josh Mauro, Ed Stinson, Xiaver Williams, Olson Pierre.

There has to be a reason the Cardinals have been stock piling and storing defensive linemen on the roster.
