unfortunately, i agree with this too. Having Mikey play Jerry Jones just doesn't make me very hopeful about the future.

What makes a GM with a background in scouting players any better at choosing a coach? Why should Bidwill wrap up the coaching search now as opposed to continuing to interview and completing the "due diligence"?

Keim has been involved with the interviews so far so we might as well trust the process here. I don't see any benefit to Keim making the choice as opposed to Keim advising Bidwill who then makes the ultimate choice....

Because you end up in a situation like you had with Rod Graves, who was untouchable and not at all tied to the success of the team. Keim needs HIS guy so he can live or die based on HIS guy's success. Keim needs someone whom he wants to go into the war room with, and agree in principle on philosophy. If the GM and head coach are at odds, it ripples down through the whole organization. They don't have to be golf buddies. They don't even have to like each other. They just have to work well together and be on the same page going forward.

I guess I'm okay with the hire. It worries me that he's been with the team so long, and wasn't part of the house cleaning. Then again, if reports that he wanted Peterson over Brown are true, perhaps he was being held back by the previous management team. I don't think any of us can say one way or another, so I'll take a wait and see approach.

I don't know if Jerry Jones is the apt comparison. Jerry is his own GM, but thinks that he could be a head coach; that Jason Garrett is essentially an offensive coordinator. He's kind of become Al Davis 2.0.

I would compare Mike Bidwill more to Mike Brown with the Bengals, who just takes a large administrative role in the football operations of the team. Whether that's good or bad has yet to really be seen.

After watching the presser, I'm encouraged on several fronts.

1. The personnel and/or scouting department is going to be strengthened.
2. Keim and Licht do have disagreements about players and prospects.
3. Keim is a Cardinal through and through. He wanted to be in Arizona first and foremost. We aren't his second or third choice.
4. He is well-respected around the league according to Michael Bidwill. He has a couple of impressive role models that he's taking ideas and inspiration from in Ron Wolf and Bill Polian.
5. He acknowledges that the Cardinal offensive line is not physical enough contributing to a lousy running offense.
6. He recognizes that you always need quarterbacks in the pipeline to develop.

GO CARDINALS!!!
