So today Keim had his press conference and when asked about drafting a WR, he said he had to look at future contracts as well as if the person can play outside.

These are the exact reasons I gave for why the Cardinals would take a WR. Fitz is year to year. Kirk up in two years. Kirk can't play outside.

The Cardinals are taking a WR in round 1. I just pray it isnt freaking Ruggs.

Chris I disagree that Kirk can’t play outside. In fact he has done it a lot for 2 years now. In fact most of Kirks big plays have indeed come from the outside. Huge plays & long TDs. Could he probably do more damage in the slot? Sure! But you’re not going to convince me Kirk “can’t” play outside when he clearly has. Look back at the Tampa game which was his career day & see where his catches came from.

I luv CeeDee the player, but do you really feel he can play outside at the NFL level? I don’t because he lacks the foot speed. He does his damage with RAC.

If they are indeed taking a WR, whom is it you see them taking in rd 1?

it’s funny that you take it that way. I came away from that thinking that there is no way the Cardinals are taking a wide receiver in the first round. Steve seemed to jump all over that question immediately saying how deep the position was.

I think that Wirfs, Brown and Lamb are all in big time play at 8. Just don't know in what order. He said also that Thomas was the best pass blocker. Read into that what you will.
He also said if there's three guys we love equally we'd be open to moving down that far with good comp.
It'll be real interesting to see who the Giants take at 4.

I took nothing from that interview of him leaning towards WR

I took it as Keim is still the GM and that is not great news. I will give him credit for the recent trade but his drafts have been horrible which have been well documented by posters on this message board.

I think every team's strategy will change drastically depending on the upcoming season. If they have a season at all or a shorten seasoned. Off topic but does the NFL move the game in Mexico back to America regardless?

If they cancel the season do you draft a top WR then a OL in the later round knowing he has a year to develop? Or vice versa? Going to be the strangest draft in a long time.

Why not Ruggs? I am not going to pretend like I watch college football and know all these players. I am just asking to be educated. Out of all the highlights I’ve seen on him I like how he is quick and can go from start to top speed just like that. His quickness can make people miss. Seems like a good YAC receiver but red zone situations I don’t think he will be as effective.

I know everyone looks good on highlight films but were there a lot of bad? Whats the knock on him? Out of the 3 WR thats talked about I feel like his quickness will open things up more.

I don’t know crap.. last receiver I wanted was Justin Blackmon.. He went out of control and I was like man glad I was wrong and we took Michael Floyd instead.. well that didn’t work out too well either..

Ruggs is the most overrated player in this draft. Almost guaranteed bust

5'10" sub 4.3 guys never succeed in the NFL. Best case is Santana Moss. Most likely scenario is Phillip Dorsett or Darius Howard Bay. I listed 15 some guys with this comp and there are 2 good players.

Was awful in college despite being on one of the best teams, with one of the best QBs, drawing the #2 coverage, with a great offensive line. College performance 100% matters. The list of guys who were poop in college and good in the NFL is minimal

There is literally no correlation that adding a receiver with his size / speed has any appreciable effect on the offense. The idea that "taking the top off the defense" is a thing is a complete urban legend

I will be out of my mind pissed off if we take Ruggs at #8. We already have Ruggs and his name is Christian Kirk.

Anything said at this time of year is intentional misdirection. It would do nothing but benefit us for a team to trade up in front of us thinking we're taking Lamb.

Considering the Cards have never done misdirection and people repeat it every year hahahahhahahahha

Absolutely never. You knew they were taking Reddick if you just listened to 98.7. They drafted the guy that loves Murray. Within a week Murray randomly declares for the draft.

For MONTHS people were convinced that was coincidence.

This team is trading back or taking a WR at #8

I thought he seem more like Tyreek Hill. I don’t watch college football so hearing what others say is nice. Thanks for the insight.

Like I said before I don’t know crap. Every year I look at the board when the Cards are picking in the first round and I select a player that is left and follow that person’s career.. it hasn’t been well.. only one thats well so far is Lamar Jackson but even that its still early..

I was firmly in the camp of not wanting the pick. But the writing on the wall was clear as day actually. Doesn't mean I didn't hope against it. But I admit I was wrong lol.

He hasn't had real success playing outside as either the #1 or the #2. Ideally he is matched up against the slot corner because he doesn't do well with contested catches.

I want literally any of the 4 OL before a WR

If Murphy wasnt there they would have taken Harry, Rosen and Kirk I posted would be the picks, Reddick, it goes on and on. 98.7 and Keim basically say who the Cards are after every year

I'd be willing to bet we trade down a few spots to pick up another draft pick, then we pick Lamb. Maybe even down to #12 with the Raiders, then they take Jeudy or Ruggs even at #8. Then the 49ers take the WR yet picked. Just a guess, I could be wrong. When SK talked about draft value for a certain player they covet & a possible trade down, that made me think Lamb is the pick.

When they talk trade down that made me think of Becton or Thomas.

I listened to the PC and heard that SK said that he considered about 8-10 guys in the draft to be blue chippers. What I might have missed, did anyone ask if that 8-10 number included QB's?
