depends on the word of Arians. Armstrong was a graduate assistant for BA at Temple in 1987..
so there is that connection... other than that the resume is not highly impressive really...some defensive experience but mostly special teams.

Recommended by Arians. Played at Temple under him and was also a graduate assistant for BA there.

One can imagine the Cardinals will try to push Bettcher as DC on him---and seeing as BA recommended both of them, how could Armstrong object?

Would this mean Mike McCoy as OC as well?

Ugh.

Jesus.. SK can decide by himself, why should he consider arians advise?
Arians was a good coach but didnt seem very sharp picking up assistant coaches

It’s starting to bother me that this franchise seems incredibly beholden to a coach that won 1 playoff game and only went to the playoffs twice in five years.

And if you talk to the Arizona media, they act like he is Bear Bryant.

Just heard from a source close to another team's FO that Keim wanted to trade up and draft Mahomes. Arians vetoed, although he liked Mahomes as a prospect, because he wanted to go for it in 2017. Keim was highly regarded in FO circles, but has lost a bit of his reputation since giving in. Btw the source I have is trustworthy, but unfortunately never has Cards stuff for me other than that.

He has interviewed for like five head coach jobs over the years so it's not like he's a random guy arians recommended.

John Harbaugh was just ST, before Baltimore came calling.

Lot more offensive coordinator firings this season than past. Great number of OC guys on market: Haley, Bevell, Shula, Mularkey, McAdoo, Chudinzski, DeFlippo (free agent after Eagles season) etc. wonder why

So Arians had final say in the draft? if that's correct, then Keim is more of BA's puppet than suspected.

Right or wrong, people here need to realize Arians was not let go but retired, meaning there's a good chance the Cardinal's Front Office was pleased with him... why would it be a shock if they had intentions to retain Arian's legacy

How about because part of his legacy was that he hired coordinators (other than Todd Bowles) whom only he would hire as coordinators and they struggled...and despite the struggles he wouldn't make any changes. In addition, he promoted them as future shoe-in head coaches ripened on his self-planted coaching tree...yet, with all these openings this year none of them has gotten an interview, except Bettcher (with MB&SK at BA's behest).

because we all know due to certain issues BA was closer to being let go than he was to being named the Godfather of Michaels children.

Both SK and MB both have been pissed for months over the state of the team,...and the debacle at ST's. BA chose to retire so he didnt get fired...or...refired as he says.

it may well have been a heart to heart intervention in which SK and MB told him point blank,...your health suxx, and you wont let us fire bad coaches...so do us all a favor, save face and retire so we dont have to fire you.,

They were upset losing, frustrated by the injuries but we have no clue if they where ticked with BA, though we where. Look, I did not say I agree but just mentioning what could be their opinion in regards to some who are acting shocked and not for those upset about the possible hire which they have legit reasons. I am now going to get a cup of hot coffee, it's freaking cold here in Texas and I'm a 'Big Puss' because I do not dig this weather at all :)
