Well, that’s obviously not true as he is a coordinator right now, and has been in the job for ten years.
While it is correct that none of the four teams, that he interviewed with, picked him to be their head coach, I think it should be noted how that is not an unusual path. For example, Ron Rivera went to eight interviews before becoming the head coach of the Panthers, Mike Zimmer was passed over by at least five teams before the Vikings made him their head coach, and Kyle Shanahan was interviewed and rejected by at least five teams before he became the head coach of the Niners.
I think Keith Armstrong is a very real candidate, and not just someone they want to interview as some sort of service to Bruce Arians. Armstrong has a strong resume, and supposedly he has been a great leader of the entire 53-man roster for years. He is also well-respected around the league and has a lot of valuable contacts that could be used to assemble a coaching staff.
