He has interviewed for like five head coach jobs over the years so it's not like he's a random guy arians recommended.

SK is BA's puppet.
It’s starting to bother me that this franchise seems incredibly beholden to a coach that won 1 playoff game and only went to the playoffs twice in five years.
MB has already said that he finds the multiple interview process "valuable" because it opens up management to new ideas, trends etc. It has been rumored that our current ST's suck. At the very least, picking the brains of another ST coach can't hurt.Jesus.. SK can decide by himself, why should he consider arians advise?
Arians was a good coach but didnt seem very sharp picking up assistant coaches
I not buying this at all, if BA was about to be fired he would have said go ahead and fire me. That way he's still would have got paid next year.it may well have been a heart to heart intervention in which SK and MB told him point blank,...your health suxx, and you wont let us fire bad coaches...so do us all a favor, save face and retire so we dont have to fire you.,

because we all know due to certain issues BA was closer to being let go than he was to being named the Godfather of Michaels children.
Both SK and MB both have been pissed for months over the state of the team,...and the debacle at ST's. BA chose to retire so he didnt get fired...or...refired as he says.

when next two are losing seasons, yeah, he will be gone if talent doesn't improve. He has been more good than bad with the record so he gets to pick the next coach.SK had 5 years to draft a QBOTF to learn under Palmer, He failed miserably... Could have traded picks and moved up... We could have easily been in the running for Garoppolo... Never even tried.
Now we have a roster, that's easily the most putrid in the league.
I don't get the blind love for SK... Yes, he's nifty at plugging in veteran FA's under 1 year deals, but he's left this roster so depleted, that the only 4 people on this roster that are worth a crap are:
David Johnson
Fitz (unlikely he returns if we go with a completely new system)
Chandler Jones
Patrick Peterson
Anyone I missed?
That's quite a team-building resume.
I think you are right. I think everybody should just quit watching the Cardinals and just watch reruns of Gumby insteadSK had 5 years to draft a QBOTF to learn under Palmer, He failed miserably... An alternative take -So Arians had final say in the draft? if that's correct, then Keim is more of BA's puppet than suspected.

I completely get that, but at the end of the day it's the GM's job to do what's best for the team, and drafting a QB is literally #1 priority. If reports are true that BA overstepped Keim in trading up for Mahomes/Watson...that is all on Keim for being extremely irresponsible. SK has avoided drafting the most important position for years, and regardless of what the HC 'wishes' were at the time...SK has to step up and be a GM at some point. An alternative take -
Draft decisions are collaborative. Major draft decisions are very collaborative with various members of the Cardinal mgt team having more influence than others depending on the nature of the decision being made.
BA knows QB's and, therefore, carried more clout than Steve re Mahomes. But on, say, a decision regarding Chandler Jones or Calais, SK might have had final say. (Or not).
Secondary point - This is all conjecture. Even rumors from reputable sources often lack necessary context.
