9.6m for Oubre and 1.6m for Holmes.

That may be Oubre's cap hold but I've read that the qualifying offer for him will be anywhere from 4.2 to 4.9 million. As a restricted free agent that number matters more. Cap hold would be the number he's on the books for before the Suns tender a qualifying offer, which they should do right away, and if they don't plan to do that then they would rescind his rights and we wouldn't be on the hook for anything. The cap hold for Oubre really doesn't matter.

Found this article which guesses what next year's free agent crop will sign for, they predict 4 years and 80 million for Oubre from Sacramento. I'd be surprised if he gets that sort of payday but they tried to pay LaVine that much also so who knows.

Here's a link with info on his current salary, and next year's qualifying offer. The cap hold really doesn't matter in this instance.

Ugh. 4 years at $20M per? I hope not. It’s one game but I’m liking already.

Worse is the projection that the Suns sign Terry Rozier for 4 years, $72 million. I would much rather sign D'Angelo Russell for the 3 year, $42 million referenced here.

Meanwhile, I caught part of the NAZ Suns G League game tonight, and Okobo looked terrible. I really think that the Suns' starting point guard of the future is still not on this roster.

$20M per years seems excessive, though Sacramento does have money to blow. My guess is that he gets somewhere around $13M per year. The key is to make him enjoy playing here. If he enjoys playing here, Suns might be able to extend him to a reasonable contract.

I think that's the neighborhood Washington was trying to keep him in but the two sides couldn't reach a deal. I suspect we'll be lucky to get him for less than the mid to high teens.

That $20 million projection for Oubre was made October 25th, so like a week into the season. I can see Sacramento doing it, I hope they don't, or if they really like him that much then maybe they can send us something to secure his bird rights headed into free agency. I like what I've seen so far from him but would be surprised if he's kept long term. I don't recall who pointed it out in the game thread but he and Mikal make for a super long tandem on the wings. I would like to see some more of that before anything is done, unless Sacramento wants to be dumb and offer Fox or Bagley for him, then adios Oubre! I can't see them being that stupid though. Who knows, maybe their owner thinks he's Giannis 2.0 like he was convinced Buddy Hield was the second coming of Steph Curry and traded Cousins for him.

I was always down on this guy, I thought he never had it in him, but man he's shooting 3's good this year. I hear he's a hard worker.

I just saw that Oubre's cap hold is $9.6M this off-season.

Assuming we don't renounce Holmes' rights, the Suns would've had somewhere between $27-31M in cap space depending on our draft position and that's with waive and stretching Anderson's remaining $15.5M.

Oubre's cap hold will reduce our potential cap space to roughly $17-21M

Something to keep an eye on.

I feel like 20 mil/yr for a 3 and D role player, even a very good one, is too much. However, if he continues to play like he did last night, I'd jump at 15 mil/yr on a multi year contract.

On a side note, what a bargain TJ Warren is. 12 mil/year and signed through 2022. Tremendous value.

If Oubre lives up to expectations the Suns should try to keep him. They may not land anyone better in free agency. He is so disruptive on defense. Fifteen million a season sounds about right.

He would give the Suns an opportunity to concentrate on adding a point guard and address power forward in the draft, trade or free agency.

The Suns have nice young talent on their roster. Acquiring a star seems less important than it did previously. Adding a couple of solid players who can address need could do wonders for the Suns roster.

Imagine if the Suns had a point guard with even average capability.

If the team continues to play like it has it will go along way towards attracting FA's.

It will be interesting to see how they handle the upcoming 3 game stretch, OKC, Warriors and Clippers.

Exactly. A team on the rise is much more attractive. Austin Rivers might even find the Suns attractive. :wink2:
