Smokescreen......
Bill wants the gargoyle.
This is the wrong Pittsburgh coach to lust after.
This stance simply mystifies me. Does he want the Steelers job as his first choice? No doubt. If he doesn't get it and comes here, will he be any less dedicated and work less hard to win? Absolutely not.
Just because a candidate does not have YOU at the top of their wish list does not mean he cannot be on top of YOUR wish list. If someone else is hired in Pittsburgh, we offer him the job, and he takes it, I will have no problem that Pittsburgh was his first choice. I mean, why should anyone have a problem with a guy having priorities and going through those priorities to get a job? Sheesh.
No, because he'll be under contract. If the Cards hire Whis, knowing that Pittsburgh is his 1st love...what happens if the new Pittsburgh coach fails and gets fired in a year, or two...Will the Cards always have to be worrying about Whis leaving?
No, because he'll be under contract.
Gruden was traded to the Bucs--they didn't have to let him go.So was Gruden when he jumped ship from Oakland to Tampa. So was Parcells when he left New England for the Jets...Doesn't stop anyone!
Who has the list of successful head coaches who served in Pittsburgh under Cowher as coordinator on either side of the ball?
I'll start the list of failures: Dick LeBeau, Mike Mularkey, Dom Capers, Chan Gailey, Jim Haslett,
Here's some of the successes: Marvin Lewis. Has he won a playoff game yet?
Oh, and by the way, here are the successful coaches from the Marty Schottenheimer coaching tree: Bill Cowher, Tony Dungy, Herm Edwards. Thank God we're not really looking at Cam Cameron anymore.

Chan Gailey
In two years, he compiled an 18-16 record and won a division championship in '98 with a 10-6 record.
In five years at Georgia Tech, Gailey has posted a 37-27 record and taken the team to a bowl appearance in each season.
just say no to Wisenhunt
He has left the STeeler offense in far worse shape than when he started
He has ruined a good young QB in just one year
He was boring in his press conference
you know, just the usual complaints
