More proven at what?

He didn’t even crack 4.0 YPC until this past season & still managed to get benched for his backup!!!!

I wouldn’t pay him $10mill either but I damn sure wouldn’t sign Gordon as a backup plan.
Two Pro Bowls, more receiving production, an overwhelming amount of TD production...

Drake wins only in YPC. That's it. Again, we've argued about this a million times in multiple threads. You think his YPC will remain consistent because Gase and Flores just wouldn't use him, and this offense is "perfect" for him, but that's the only argument, and I just don't feel it's very strong.

As it stands today, we need two backs, so we'll see what pans out.

Kenyan Drake can't sniff a Pro Bowl. He has five 100 yard rushing games. We're a year removed from Melvin Gordon being a top-5 producing RB in rushing and receiving on a per game basis.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. Gordon SUCKS. You're gonna have a tough time finding anyone here who would want him over KD, and there are a lot of people not sold on KD - but they'll still take him over Gordon in a heartbeat. KD has already proven that he's a perfect fit in this offense. He needs to be brought back unless the price is just off-the-charts outrageous.

I just want to ask the heavy Kenyan Drake supporters: if next year, he replicates any one of his seasons, will you consider it a disappointment?

By what measure does Gordon "suck?"

Honestly, I'm not sure where you're getting this. He's a two time Pro-Bowler. He had one bad year after making an idiotic move holding out. There's not a single free agency article ranking Drake above Gordon that I've seen.

Extrapolate his Cards games over a full season and tell us where he'd rank. Just curious.

Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
Extrapolate or not, he's never done it. He had three really good games. Plenty of mediocre RBs have had three really good games. What about the four out of eight games where he was a total non-factor? Ever think that guy might be the one that shows up, like the rest of his career?

New thread, same arguments. You guys are expecting him to do things he's never done.

Edit: Let me say, if he had come in here and run for a consistent 60+ yards a game with a few 1 or 2 TD performances, and had looked strong in every performance with a couple of standout games? I'd be with you guys.

Instead, he was either crushing it or complete garbage. Don't let the flashy few games distract you from the big picture.

Just a completely brain dead decision.

I would rather start a UDFA before handing Gordon any kind of contract.

Don't care for Gordon and he had a rocky start to his professional career... he's not a special talent in regards to someone like Elliot or Barkley which is why the Chargers are hesitant to pay him :)

You can't just look at the two players in a vacuum but instead look at how they will fit in our offense. This is why DJ can both still be productive elsewhere but terrible here. You will note that on these key things Gordon is much more David Johnson then Kenyan Drake.

Things that matter in this offense:

40 yard Dash

Gordon 4.52
David Johnson 4.50

Drake 4.45

True YPC

Gordon 3.7 YPC
Johnson 3.6 YPC

Drake 4.5 YPC

Runs out of the Shotgun

Gordon 4.1 YPC
Johnson 3.7 YPC

Drake 5.3 YPC

"We" is DVontel and I. Stop telling me what opinions I'm not allowed to have unless they're groupthink. It's tiresome.
Stop telling me what I can say Prophet of Doom. I’ll use your line... block me. You don’t have to say another word about Drake . We know what you thing. EVERYONE knows. Talk about tiresome.

Both Chase Edmonds and Kenyan Drake had success running in our system last year. Next year with Hopkins added to the offense as well as Isabella/Butler being more involved could definitely open things up for the running game even more. Can't wait to see it unfold.

I said I'd be interested in Melvin Gordon and got ripped on. It's tiresome to watch you jump up and down in excitement in every thread like we've been a 10-win team for years running. I'm not blocking anyone, but if you find me tiresome, block me, and stop telling me what to say. I don't want to create any bad blood, but it is what it is. I'm going to call players like I see them - generally how the rest of the NFL sees them.

Do you even watch NFL football? JFC I'm out.
Do you? Gordon was great in every factor of the game in 2018. It's why he was offered 10 million per. He didn't look very good in 2019. Career wise, he blows Drake out of the water.

No one but Cardinals fans say different.

You guys forget how much solar values how high a player was drafted. Gordon was a first round pick. Who cares he averages less 4 yards per carry most of his career?

Literally everyone but Solar, apparently.

And let's not forget the guy's a whiner who thinks he's worth FAR more than he is, and sat out trying to extort more money, and wound up probably costing himself more than he'll ever be able to earn back as a result of sitting. Meanwhile, Hopkins is known to want a new deal, but never quit on the field, never made a big public fuss about it - just kept balling. Gordon could learn some humility here, especially after looking at his stat sheet, that screams "pedestrian".

It has nothing to do with where he was drafted.

Production. Simple as that. Drake has little to none. Very few free agency sites have Drake above Gordon. Also simple. I'm not the only person who feels this way. People acting like I'm saying Melvin Gordon is better than McCaffery.

His stat sheet blows Drake's out of the water.

Again, point to all of the NFL people who are paid to do this for a living that have Drake ranked as the better free agent play. They don't.

He has ONE season over 3.9 yards per carry. That's horrible.

Really? How about last season? Head to head? This league is about what you've done lately. 2019 stats for both would be a good comparison, right? I'm sure Gordon blew Drake out of the water, right? Let's see:

Gordon: 162 attempts for 612 yards and 8 TD's with a 3.8 AVG.

Drake: 170 attempts for 817 yards and 8 TD's with a 4.8 AVG.
