Have helped the Spurs win all those Championships

Ever heard the saying "you can't win if you don't play"? Well the Suns can't get any value production out of no players at all. I'd rather them take late first rounders and have one or two of them maybe develop into useful players.

No, but Manu and Tony Parker have. Getting 2/7 all star calibur players(and a finals MVP ) with late draft picks is pretty damn good. How are the Suns supposed to add those types of players if they aren't goign to draft anyone?

Jesus Christ people.

The Suns actually drafted 2 players and you all find something to complain about. Not to mention they actually KEPT Kurt Thomas. Oh, and Grant Hill has been in Phoenix recently. I can almost guarantee that he will be signed soon.

They tried to move up and the Bobcats backed out at the last second. Big deal. I'd rather have next years ATL pick plus my own picks anyways.

I'm positive that most people on this board would still be complaining if the Suns traded 4 picks to move up. "Oh. Look! Rookie GM and $arver traded 4 picks including the unprotected ATL pick. What a couple of cheap bastards! All we're going to have for the next 2 drafts is the #8 this year and a couple of 2nd rounders who don't play. I bet $arver sells our 2nd round picks anyways! Cheap bastard!"

:titanic:

Well they traded a potentially dominating big (Wright) for Richardson when they already had a similar player on their roster (Wallace) that they are trying to resign.

Jordan is worse than Isiah.

Isiah really impressed me with that trade last night.

um, they traded a raw rookie for a guy everyone knows that can produce at a very high level who can play SG or SF - just like Wallace. And they already have their C/PF they got from their last two drafts, so why would they keep adding to that mix, instead of filling out the roster with another REALLY good young wing. You do realize this is what their team looks like:

Raymond Felton (natural PG)
Jason Richardson (natural SG)
Gerald Wallace (natural SF)
Sean May (natural PF)
Emeka Okafor (natural C)

assuming they resign Wallace (and they still have a LOAD of capspace to do so), they basically now have every single position in the starting lineup locked in with young talented players. Not sure how Jordan got screwed putting together that kind of team moving forward, especially considering they could never in their wildest dreams get a FA like Richardson to come there of his own volition.

Yeah know one else knows anything. Good thing you are all here to set us straight on how lucky the Suns are to have Alando Tucker and DJ Strawberry after 4 drafts.

Your kidding right? Even all the weeks you spent with the draft picks at the practice gym, they didn't listen to your feedback...

COME ON PEOPLE we don't know half of the crap that goes on. I am sorry unless you see a guy play in the gym with equal tallent you can't even think you know more than someone else.

This is a business not just a fantasy team you can do what ever you want.

huh - what does my feedback have to do with them spoon-feeding the Spurs lies to the public? this isn't about the draft, it's about flat out being disengenuous because you think you can get away with it.

How is that different from JC? It's an investment group. Certain decisions are made about the overall business of the team by the group. However, when it comes to the actual day to day personnel type stuff it's Sarver. That's why he put up the most money....to make those decisions. He is the controlling partner. He doesn't have to listen to the other owners in that respect.

JC had a much higher % of ownership than what Saver has. Also JC only took in more partners when they revamped the arena. Also JC was old school owner wanted to be involved in everything that is why you see a bunch of ex-suns in the front office. Sarver bought it as an investment and he has hired people to manage the business. He learned first hand what happens when he tries to make the moves.. JJ & Q. I don't support the moves or trades, I am just saying they know much more than we do, and to say we can do a better job or know more is asinine.

why is it a given that KT won't still be traded and Hill WILL be here? It's like since the draft ended, people think the off-season is meaning that KT ain't going nowhere, but at the same time keep pimping Grant Hill.

have you guys NOT been reading what DA has continually been saying about KT and his salary?

why leave out Parker and Ginobli? And why ignore the fact that Beno actually DID help them out two years ago, nailing threes against us in the WCF. Now, I'm sure you'll turn this around and say - "yeah, Beno Udrih was the reason we lost!" ratheer than acknowledge the fact that that isn't what I'm saying at all, but he did contribute to a title winning team and made some key shots.

I guess Amare, Marion, Barbosa, and Nash all sucked also. Heck were are the Oliver Millers, Richard Dumas, Casey, Big Jakes, of the world. For every 1 of the good players your going to get 6 that are not worth a dang. Heck they looked good for a week, but were are they now. The draft is only good for teams that need big help. The Suns need if vets that are hungry to win a championship not a rookie that wants to be the next James.

I'm absolutely sure that we, a bunch of fans posting on a message board and salivating over any KG rumor thrown our way, know more about basketball than the GM of the Phoenix Suns.

Really. 100% certain.

good lord - are you saying you didn't know that Parker and Ginobli completely contradict what Steve was saying regarding us using the Spurs model? Did you even read my entire post where I said I can't believe Kerr doesn't know this, which actually means he's just being completely disingenuous with a fan base, most of which doesn't know the Spurs history?

There aren't many good examples in the NBA of trading big vs. small. Time will tell if this is will be a good deal yet, but May is still just as raw as Wright would have been, and they still need someone reliable to put on the other side of Okefor.

If they resign Wallace to the near max deal that he will probably get, most of their cap space will be gone.

Give me a break. Being a voice of reason is different than "setting you straight." I am surprised you can't see the difference.

so, you're going to continue to ignore the fact that the Spurs were still drafting players even when they were going after and actually won titles? seriously, is this serious?

The Spurs model is to keep the team together and build off of that. The ONLY reason the Spurs are were they are do to Robinson being hurt that year and Duncan was avaiable, just think how much differnt they would be if they had to pick Van Horn or Tony Battie.

but this isn't proven big for proven small - this is very raw rookie big for completely proven small, at a POSITION OF NEED because they've already drafted their bigs.

Time will tell if this is will be a good deal yet, but May is still just as raw as Wright would have been, and they still need someone reliable to put on the other side of Okefor.

so what? they will have their 5 core guys completely in place for years to come. And even if Wallace gets a MAX deal, they're still so ridiculously under the cap, that it ain't gonna kill them.

right, through the DRAFT and FA. It's how they've been able to be good for a decade. As opposed to us, only in FA, and making bad deals at that. Decidedly not like the Spurs when you only do half of what they're doing.

How can you say they draft players. They draft people that stay overseas, the suns tried that with Vujic (sp) can didn't get anything. The Suns have drafted players as well, Barbosa. What I am saying is if there is a player they see that can help the team they would have drafted him, if not why take a flyer on a player to sit overseas and get hurt or never come over. Take the cash and put it to use to sign a player to help you know. The league pays for 1/2 the salary of a vet on the min, so why wouldn't you fill your BENCH, not starters with these players?

I am not saying the Suns have been perfect. The Spurs have gotten lucky with Parker and Manu. Just like we got lucky with Barbosa and Nash. I am just talking about the draft right now. I don't see the differance in selling a pick for cash vs drafting a player that has a very slim chance of playing in the NBA.

I don't even know what this means. What did I say that even came close to implying this leap in logic?

And where was Barbosa drafted again? Funny you mention Miller and Dumas seeing how both contributed to a contending team as ROOKIES. And what about the allstars that were picked after Jacobsen? Just because the Suns screwed the pooch doesn't mean there was no quality available.

that was FOUR YEARS AGO, before we were even contenders. there's no link between what you're saying.

Let's face it. Every move the Suns make sucks. They don't want to win. They are lead by idiots who know less than fans. And fans should put their money where their mouths are, pony up, and buy the team so they can direct it as they please.

People, you are complaining just to complain. You are comparing the Suns to a team that has gotten to make two #1 picks over the past 10+ years in order to be where they are. Is that your plan? Get a couple of #1 pick studs so that the Suns can then blow picks on hopefuls that they can stash overseas? I mean, seriously. THE MODEL IS LUCK! FORTUNE!

This is the entertainment business. If you are not getting entertainment - seek some elsewhere...

I personally can't believe Kerr passed up as many opportunities as he has been offered over the years to be the lightning rod and puppert of one Robert Sarver.
