I was pimpin Kolb the whole time too, I aint gonna lie.

Not the whole time. You reviewed the available options and kind of said that Kolb was the guy you were going to get behind, because you thought that he was the best of what was available.

I thought it was Alex Smith (still do, honestly).

Cheese thought it was Hasselback.

I think that Russ really wanted to trade for Carson Palmer, and then threw his hands in the air and fell in line when Whis said that Kolb was his guy.

Shane and 40 agreed with whatever the front office said.

You're cool with me, DD. It was AZF and TJ who were walking around with their chests puffed out that Kevin Kolb was going to be a steal, that his salary would look like a value when he's a Top 10 QB, that he gives us the best chance to win now, etc., etc.

I take strong opinions, but when I'm wrong, I'm not gonna hide from it by putting posters that disagreed with me on ignore or disappearing from the board for six months.

AZF turned his back on Kolb at the end of last season, and then still talked himself back into Kolb at the opening of training camp. :biglaugh:

It is not the line blocking better, it is the QB managing the situation. I've said it, others have stated it, and it is the absolute truth, you HAVE to unload the ball to beat the blitz. Kolb is too gun shy to do this because he is focused on the rushers, and not the wide receivers.

Even IF the receivers aren't getting open quick enough, as a QB you HAVE to manage the situation and unload the ball even if it is just to avoid a negative play.

I just can't believe that anyone can look at Kevin Kolb and say, "Yup, this guy looks like he belongs in the NFL." Skelton doesn't look any worse than Dan Orlovsky or someone equally limited. Kolb looks like a guy competing for a 3rd string job.

Just to get it out from the game thread: the Raiders feed reported that Tommy Kelly came off the field following Kolb's sandwich sack and told the coaches, "That boy is scared."

Another excellent evaluation from the front office. I'm not sure that they can afford to peel him off and throw him in the gutter at the end of training camp, though. It'll be interesting to see if the reports that Kolb's roster spot might be in danger start trickling out. What an embarrassment.

Someone said it in the game thread, but Andy Reid is a complete pimp.

Yep. But I don't care if you're right or wrong and I don't remember 75% of what people predict on this board

Except you, DD, still need to come correct and admit LeBron > Durant ;)

I think Kolb should've done what Timm Rosenbach did and just said, "Man, I can't take getting hurt like this, I'm off to the ranch." I think he's willing himself to try hard and be a good teammate, but deep down he's lost the nerve.

What does it matter now who said what and when? Skelton is the guy and the faster Whiz makes that announcment the better. He needs to start next week knowing he is the man.

I agree at this point Skelton is the guy, but it's not like he's a proven great quarterback so he needs lots of game time to get better. Which is why he should be playing much more in the preseason than say a proven guy like Brady or Rodgers. When you have a young guy who's trying to be the starter you can't hold them out all preseason try keep him from getting hurt, he needs to play significant time these last two games IMHO.

Just because you have me on ignore doesn't mean that I suddenly forget how you and AZF were leading the charge for Kevin Kolb. If you can admit that you were wrong, and it turns out that he only looked good in two games because he was playing against toothless defenses as the 7th or 8th best player on this offense, and putting our eggs in the Kolb basket was a mistake, we'll bury the hatchet.

I've come correct on Daryl Washington and am in the process of doing so with Ryan Williams. You were wrong on Kevin Kolb in a big, big way. Some of us can read the quarterback position, and others of us come out and say that Kevin Kolb is going to be a Top 10 quarterback in this league.

Hey, do I get credit for starting the Ryan Williams bandwagon last preseason before he got hurt?

On Kolb, I was on the same boat as most. I thought he was the best option and applauded our front office for making a move to get a young and talented QB. I'm not sure if he has always been this skittish, Philly's scheme just managed it better or it is due to his concussion last year, but he is a beaten dog. He is fine until something bangs or you raise your hand, and then he pisses all over the carpet.

It's amazing It looks like two different offensive lines when the quarterbacks are out there

I agree. The pocket collapses for Kolb and then the second Skelton comes in there is a perfect pocket.

I'm starting to believe that Kolb has lost this team for real. It really appears Skelton's teammates want him as their starter. That't pretty damning for Kolb.

The local channel 5 was anything but impartial after the game, Skelton was named the starter and Kolb was thrown in the brink.

If we're all going to starting ourselves on the back, I was dead on with Derek Anderson...well everything except that fact that he would do well.

Yeah, but did you call Dennis Johnson, Michael Stone and Mao Tosi all potential draft steals? See, I need all the credit I can get.

If Ryan Williams and Senio Kelemente pan out, maybe my friends will forgive me for saying Dwight Freeney was too small to be anything but a nickel rusher...:bang:

There isn't an offensive line in this league that could protect Kolb at this point, and I am of the mind to cut our losses, sign a vet or make a trade, and cut Kolb loose.

He is done.

They were speculating on NFL Net tonight that David Garrard(sp) might be available once he comes back from surgery. They were more or less basing that on the prospect that Tannehill(sp) will emerge as the starter for the Dolphins with Nat Moore being 2nd String.

We should have released him back in March instead of paying his bonus. They even had a ready made excuse with him babbling to the media about how it took him over a month after the season to get over his concussion.

So frustrating. Going into the year with Skelton, Lindley and a guy who does nothing but move backwards and is the 2nd highest paid player on the team.
