He deserves his own thread since a lot of you are in love with him.

36 points and 11 rebounds...all in a lost to the Mavs tonight.

Rubio 13 assists 4 points. The Twolves aren't losing because of Love.

Is there a difference between the way Love has played in Minnesota and the way Bosh played in Toronto?

Of course Bosh didn't have a pass first PG who had excellent vision to play with him and didn't have players like Kevin Martin and Pekovic but other than that?

I guess Bosh had Calderon...but seriously though, both are PFs who couldn't take the team further by themselves and need help to do it.

Who is the last superstar who didn't need some help? LeBron needed Wade and Bosh. Kobe needed Shaq and Gasol. Duncan first had Robinson, and then got Parker and Ginobili not to mention Pops always been there. Hell one could even argue that even Jordan needed Pippen. All this bashing on Love putting up numbers but not getting his team to the next level seems a little silly to me. You put him in the right system with other legit players and I guarantee his team would win consistently and be a perennial playoff team

So what? Okafor's expiring, 3 2014 picks, and the Laker 2015 pick for Love? Not sure the Wolves would take it and I am not sure we would want to give it.

the difference we're talking with Love isn't that he can't get his team to the next level...it's that he can't even get his team to ANY level...even an 8 seed. every one of those guys you mentioned above at the worst dragged their teams into the playoffs while flying solo.

Well I guess we'll never really know with Duncan as he came to a team with D.Robinson and Sean Elliott, but I get your point. I'm not denying that Love is an unknown. He puts up excellent numbers but his team isn't winning. I also wouldn't advocate "selling the house" for him at this point. I just think its silly to bring up his stats in last nights game as "evidence" that he is the sole reason the Wolves are losing. Who is to say they wouldn't have lost by 20+ instead of 2 pts had Love not put up the numbers he did.

The Wolves are a team with really only 4 rotation quality players... and thats giving Rubio some perhaps undeserved credit. Their bench is bad... like maybe worst in the NBA bad, they have no good defenders, Rubio is a seriously flawed player with only one real skill.

Take Love off that roster and they're one of the worst teams in the league. Last year they were .500 with him, 22-42 without him.

I would not advocate giving up 5 first round picks for him, but something like 2 firsts, Len and Goodwin, or two firsts and the Morrii, or two firsts, Frye and Len... I'd be all over it.

The 76ers only won 35 games with Barkley the year before he was traded to the Suns. Barkley won the MVP with the Suns but he couldn't even get the 76ers to the playoffs.

and what about the year before that? or the year prior to that? I'll give you a hint...it's something Kevin Love has NEVER done. That's make the playoffs singlehandedly, not to mention even winning a series, which Barkley did twice in 1991 and 1990, not to mention making the playoffs in 5 of his 7 years as leader of that team.

Barkley won the MVP with the Suns but he couldn't even get the 76ers to the playoffs.

and if this was Kevin Love first year with a struggling team after getting them into the playoffs for a couple years prior, you'd have a decent comparison to make. But he hasn't, so you don't.

Want to try again? KG played in the same place, for years was surrounded by trash and consistently got his team at least into the playoffs. Sure they lost in the first round every time, but at least he was impactful enough to get them there. I just don't see it with Kevin Love at this point.

who's saying he's "the sole reason the Wolves are losing"? no one. there's just some of us who believe if a guy is THAT impactful of a player, those stats should lead to W's more often then they seemingly have.

Hey I'm not pointing fingers but the thread title is dedicated to Love not the Timberwolves. Anyways, I checked out the Wolves forum to see what their fans thoughts are regarding the state of the Wolves and why they're continuing to lose as I admittedly don't watch the Wolves a ton. The overwhelming opinion seems to be that Love is carrying that team and having an MVP type season. They are blaming abysmal bench play and Rubio's lack of offense for their losing ways.

We have had such success this year with guys that have put up no stats previously and are now having career years. Imagine getting a guy like Love who has already shown that he can play at a high level albeit on a bad team. I maintain my opinion that he would take this team to another level

I think he would too, but probably at the cost of almost every tradable asset we have and I think it would be a level that plateaus at 50 wins and never wins a damn thing. We've been there, done that.

I have some of the same reservations about Love that others voiced, but I have been watching the Wolves a lot recently, and I am not as concerned about K-Love as I was a couple of weeks ago.

First off, Rubio is beyond terrible. He is in the Kendal Marshall territory. No D, absolutely no J, and no real skills getting to the rim. I do not understand how this guy is still in the NBA.

Their bench is just terrible. Barea and to a lesser degree Shved are the only players on their bench who belong in the NBA. Perhaps Cunningham as well.

Kevin Martin just keeps getting worse. I never considered him a star or a particularly smart player, but it seems he has regressed and his basketball IQ has gone down.

I am still not sold on Love, but carrying that bunch to playoffs is not as easy as most people think. If you guys have league pass, watch a couple of Minni games. Your mind may be changed when it comes to K-Love.

I'm pretty sure they have. I seem to recall it happening a couple of times right around the same time too. IIRC, Golden State was involved with both of them where a high pick was traded for a slightly lower pick plus two more 1st rounders (I may not have my facts straight here, it's a shaky memory these days). The Chris Webber/Penny Hardaway deal and the Vince Carter/Antwan Jamison trade come to mind but I'm not sure of the specifics.

I checked the last 3 years and only Dwight Howard received 3 Firsts and that was multi-Team and multi-Players. I know 3 Draft Picks have been Traded for a higher Draft
Pick but I think it's ridiculous that fans are considering Trading 5-6 First Rounders, last years 1st, and expiring for Love!

Thing that concerns me about Love is his defense and athleticism. It's on the Z-Bo level.

Actually, I wouldn't have any qualms about trading 4 firsts, Len and Okafor for Love if I were sure we could keep him. He's only 25 years old and it's not likely we'd find his equal with any of the picks we'd be surrendering. This game is still about stars and none of those picks look to be lottery bound. Even if you argue that he isn't up there with the absolute top players in the game there can't be more than a handful that are clearly better than him.

If you really believe that he is THE piece you need, and you have the picks, and you really don't need those picks (since you already have the other young pieces in place), it would certainly be a possibility.

The goal is a championship team, not winning a trade. You can, for a practical purposes lose a trade as far a value for value, but if it makes your team better and get's you close to a title its ok.

Indy fans are still happy with Scola even though, in the end, it might look like we "won" the trade.

So, if we could trade four firsts (any except the Laker 2015 pick) and Okafor's expiring for Love, I would do it--in a second. Our first this year, our first next year (yes we can do that under the rules), the Minny pick and the Indy pick. I would consider that a steal.

I thought this was an interesting read, somewhat.
Seems like too much credit is given to Rubio and a lot of blame on Pek

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ove-nikola-pekovic-tandem-wont-work-long-term

There is something to that article- neither Pek nor Love are really "rim protectors" or defensive juggernauts in any way, shape, or form, but on the list of T-Wolves' problems, that one is pretty low on the list. If Dieng develops, he will be an ideal 3rd big man for the Wolves.

I watched the game they were referencing, and the Wolves lost that game because of some bone-headed plays by Martin. Pekovic and Love demolished Griffin and Jordan. Martin and, to a lesser degree, Rubio handed the game over to the Clippers.

You can't win when you have no scoring off the bench- it's that simple.

Article really lost me when they called Rubio one of the best defensive PGs in the league. He is no Nash, but to call him one of the best is just silly.
