IMO our key to the game will be the x-factor Bryant Johnson. It is time he showed that speed the coaches rave about. He will be needed to stretch the field to open up the short passing game and runs for Edge.

Defensively I want to see every defender being physical. No more soft zone. We need players that can bump and run. I don't think Seattle has the receivers to burn our Dbacks consistently. We need all bodies in on the run game.

And here is a quote in today's Republic that supports my defensive key

In two seasons under coach Dennis Green, the Cardinals have been successful against Alexander just once in four games. Two years ago, the Cardinals held Alexander to 65 yards on 12 carries and won 25-17.

In that game, strong safety Adrian Wilson blitzed more than usual, and the Cardinals cornerbacks played more press coverage than usual.

I hope we come out with a aggressive defense and really attack from the beginning...Call me stupid but i think we are gonna win this one...The defense is gonna have to win this game....We can't afford another shoot-out

I think the Cards show up ready to play. They took a big chance last week by holding out their entire blitz package just so Seattle would have to go by last year’s films. That package must pressure Hasselbeck right from the start. The most important thing lost when Hutchinson left was the ability of the line to adjust. The Cards must capitalize on that deficiency. I don’t see the Cards stopping Alexander from getting his 100 yards, but if he doesn’t get 150, the Cards should be in this game.

On offense the Cards have to give Warner time to throw. Seattle’s secondary is its weakest point and it can be handled by the Cards with time to get the routes run. I look for several new twists in the running game, including 2-man backfields and misdirection. You’ll see much of the entire line blocking to one side, so Edge can cut back like Murrell used to do. I also expect to see some screens and short passes. Look for them to throw to Edge more often, as well.

If the Cards can avoid turnovers, they can pull the upset, but it looks to me like Seattle wins a close one, say 27-24. The Cards best chance is to score early and often, keeping the ball out of Seattle’s hands.

Win the turnover battle and stay disciplined on D. Holmgren is great coach and he saw what worked against us last week. They will make us stop their running game and screen passes to Alexander could be lethal.

We have a more explosive offense so if we hang around in this one we could be trouble for them in the 4th qtr.

Oh wouldn't a win feel good.....GO CARDS!!!

I think the Edge will truly give us the Edge this week. I think we will see several short passes to Edge that we did not show last week.

Like eveyone else we have to rattle Hasselback with our blitz package. Hope Dansby can play this week. I also think the seahawks really miss Hutch so we should be able to contain Alexander this time.

Cards 27-17

Good post ... I also think that Hayes will be a big key in stopping the run game ...

STOP the run. Make them pass and pass so we can bring the heat and create turnovers. Start Clancy & L.Moore, & rotate G.Watson stuff the middle.

I want to see Boldin get the ball on alot of underneath routs. Let him catch quick short throws and let HIM make plays after the catch.

I would lean real heavy on EDGE this game. Not just running but get creative screens, short dumps. Just get the ball in his hands every chance you get. Like Boldin, Edge is a playmaker, just get him the damn ball.

Wins in the NFL are hard to get. You need to lean alot more on your Best players(EDGE, BOLDIN, FITZ).

1. Stay with the run. The run didnt work in the first half of last week but they stuck with it into the second half where they had success most of the time. We stuck with the run and still ran it 29 times last week. We need to do that again.

2. Stop the stupid penalties. We gave up 3 first downs and 45 yards on defensive penalties last week. We cannot do that again this week and Seattles O will take much more advantage of that then the 49ers did.

3. Dline rotation - We only had a 6 man DL rotation last week. It showed going into the 2nd half. We need at a minimum of 7 guys rotated on the DL to keep them fresher and a wider range of abilities the Hawks OL will have to deal with.

Agreed. We cant get into a situation where we rely on the deep ball throughout the game. Our O has to find a way to keep the chains moving and consume time especially in the 3rd quater, after theyve made their adjustments. Our D needs the time off the field to stay fresh in order to pressure their QB and create turnovers. IMO we'll need to be at least plus 2 in TOs to have a shot.
