I thought Kendall said he came for the money and don`t recall him saying he didn`t like AZ.Could it be your ND bias against BC showing Skorp?

Whoa. I liked Kendall a lot. Ditto for BC. Enough of this unsubstantiated bias crap. The only college (term used loosely) team I hate is Miami. The school is a joke, they recruit and train criminals and cheat big time in every way possible.

Linebacker Monty Beisel, signed during last season, is expected to re-sign within the next few days.

That is good news. I really liked what I saw out of Beisel the last two games. He's a keeper.

If we can re-sign Cooper I will be a happy camper as well.

I suspect that earnest attempts by media to get their arms around the cap situation represent educated guesses and not hard facts - and that the real numbers we never see may indicate the Cards may have the necessary wriggle room to sign Beisel and somehow get one more deal done.

For my money that is the way it should be. When you are competing in a game (say poker) does it make any sense to lay your cards out on the table and show your hand? Why some people feel they have to know everything before it happens puzzles me. We are competing against the players agents, and other teams for the guys we want. I would like someone to explain to me why knowing how much we have to spend, down to the last penny is so important? Do people get off knowing this? Is it the basis for their posts?

By the way, the two potential signings would really be outstanding and give us some added flexibilty on the day of the draft.

You don't know ether, Skorp.

My wife told me that for 19 years. I sense a concensus building.

Guess I'm getting redundant, huh? Sorry. I'm posting too much waiting for the NCAA tournament to start.

Speaking of the tournament, Notre Dame got a tough draw for an opening game.

Beisel is a weird story.

3 seasons ago he was the second coming of Donnie Edwards early in the season in KC and I remember several articles about him being a break-out players in the league. He slipped a bit late in the season, but got a nice contract from the Pats, but failed miserable there.

Awesome news. I am not sure if there is anyone else I like in FA. We need 2 tackles, 2 linebackers, a TE, and a STer in the draft.

Great, so you're saying not only do we have to draft for need with each pick, we don't even have enough picks to fill them all. Lovely. Not sure why I wanted us to do more in FA.

Some great insight there...

My bad Beerz, guess you hadn't seen me weigh in on Hood, in other posts. He should be a depth signing only. He was on sports radio saying that he was told he'd start. That is not good.

Fantastic Signing!

This was the one guy that I really wanted of the players the Cardinals brought in. Our Secondary now has some depth with the signing of Holt and Hood!

Hood is just about to enter his prime and we just locked him up for 5 years. Trust me, the Eagles fans I know are sorry to see him go. However they knew that the Eagles wouldn't pay him what he wanted or garentee the chance to start.

On that note MadCard, I'm getting the opposite from my eagles peeps.

We don't have 6 picks this year?

This is important not only for depth, but at this point I have to think that the staff would be looking to him to fill Huff's shoes (fortunately for Beisel, that won't be tough to do).

Interesting stuff on Rod Hood...

Hood was a nickel cornerback for the Eagles, but his metrics the past three seasons indicate a player of starting-level quality:

Roderick Hood
Year Att Comp Yds TD INT Pen Yds YPA
2006 25 10 148 1 0 4 35 7.3
2005 57 26 316 3 3 1 10 5.7
2004 70 43 449 2 1 3 0 6.4
Total 152 79 913 6 4 8 45 6.3

A first reaction upon seeing Hood's impressive YPA numbers might be to assume that, as a No. 3 cornerback, he posted his numbers against substandard competition.

However, although Hood has served primarily as the Eagles' third cornerback, it should be noted that injuries to Lito Sheppard meant Hood was the starter in 14 of the 42 games he played in the past three seasons.

Second, more than half the passes directed at Hood during this span were thrown to a player who would be considered either a starting-level wide receiver or an elite No. 3 wide receiver. Hood's overall YPA of 5.0 against this group proves his low YPA numbers largely were generated against high-level competition.

The chart below reveals how he fared against some marquee wideouts (Chad Johnson, Santana Moss, Terrell Owens, Terry Glenn, and TJ Houshmandzadeh) in plays when Hood was directly responsible for coverage on the receiver. The numbers provide proof positive that Hood can run with the best of the best in the NFL. His signing is a definite hit for the Cardinals.

Hood against the best
Player Att Comp Yds TD INT Pen Yds YPA
Johnson 7 3 28 0 0 0 0 4.0
Moss 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 0.0
Owens 2 0 0 0 0 1 5 2.5
Glenn 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0.0
Houshmandzadeh 2 2 6 0 0 0 0 3.0

I really like this. It gives a guy a chance to earn extra money if he performs well. They should write all NFL contracts like this and quit overpaying these guys.

Ricky Williams agent did exactly that and people everywhere blasted them unmercifully for doing it.
